The Good - Our room in the "Carriage House" (see below) was spacious and comfortable, with an extremely luxurious bed. Carla was very welcoming and helpful during check-in. The afternoon wine and cheese receptions were well done. The property is on the water a short walk from the Monterey Aquarium. The Bad- The breakfasts need a large upgrade. Shredded frozen potatoes barely thawed in the microwave were served as "hash browns" . The only jam available was Smucker's grape jelly. These shortcomings would be unacceptable even for a Denny's, much less for a $300+/night B&B. There was a Keurig machine in the room, but the only pods available were an off-brand flavored coffee. Yuck! The Ugly - The so-called "Carriage House" is a standard modern garage, on top of which rooms were added accessible by exterior stairs and balcony. It would be a "carriage house" if your carriage were a Chevy Impala.…
Balcony room booked, has a terrific view. GG offers cheese and wine in the pm and breakfast (we had quiche and potatoes) in the am. This is an older building so don't expect all the tech amenities but if you plan wisely you'll be okay. Love this place and the town of Pacific Grove is just awesome too.
Beautiful building, great staff and fantastic location. Our first stop on our road trip from San Francisco to LA along Highway One. The breakfast offering was a little limited , presumably due to covid restriction but in all other respects we were very happy with our stay. Spacious , comfortable room easy walking distance to restaurants (their recs were spot on!) Would be happy return here which doesn’t often happen.
We stayed in the Chapel Room and loved the window that opened out to the bay. We could sit with a glass of wine and hear the waves. We loved the location that is just steps to the walking path. The bathroom is across from the hall but we were the only ones using it.
This is a great hotel! The location is superb, right on the water. You can see the ocean from the breakfast room and from some of the rooms. Speaking of breakfast, a couple of hot dishes are served every morning, in addition to the usual breakfast buffet stuff. The service is wonderful, very thoughtful and helpful staff. It's beautiful and very clean.
