New digs located across the street from the Oceanside Pier. Be assured construction is happening and your view is blocked but don’t worry bruh it is still only one block from the boardwalk. The hotel is new, clean, and friendly. Our visit was during Covid and the hotel had a clever solution to provide amenities to guests, including the pool and gym. Gym, tan, laundry. We chose not to park onsite because nearby street parking is available. However, they do offer valet parking. Oh yeah, head over to Colima’s for a Cali Burrito (meat and fries).
I have stayed at this hotel in the past and the views WERE amazing; however, there is a monstrosity of a new hotel that completely blocks the views for rooms facing west/towards the ocean. Just know that before you book! Pool: The pool requires a reservation and in two hour blocks at a time (only 20 people max allowed due to CV19). I asked the front desk if I arrived earlier than check-in to enjoy hotel/amenities and asked if I could reserve my two hour reservation for pool. I was told "not until check-in". When check-in time came....about 3:45pm, I asked about pool and answer was "no, reserved for rest of night". WOW! Poor business practice right there. To the Manager: There is a reason people stay at that hotel (location, beach, but also to enjoy the roof top pool). Was not happy about that AT ALL. That process needs to improve. We're paying customers after all. We should be able to enjoy ALL HOTEL AMENITIES! Parking - Valet only and $31 Will I stay there again? Perhaps, but not with the CV19 restrictive policies that don't allow EVERY guest to enjoy the SAME amenities.…
This hotel has been such an amazing stop on my moment to escape! From the first conversation with Maria G, to the arrival and check out I have been in constant Awe! Firstly, let me express Covid19 has had me and other first responders working out butts off as you can imagine. I decided with the fires and convid combined, my family needed a break. I am very glad this was the hotel of choice! Maria G. Answered every single question, provided additional suggestions as to places to eat, hang out and relax. She informed me honestly of amenities that were not available (jacuzzi) :( as well as of expectations on arrival.(face covering in hotel) Her customer service was professional, her passion for giving complete answers also stood out. Not only was my room ready upon arrival but every single request was also accommodated clearly to the best of their abilities! She even personally brought up extra pillows!!! I also want to appreciate Stormy in providing mask, ice and a lovely smile as well as Destiny for aiding me in mobile check in! Being greeted is one thing, but being welcomed is amazing and this hotel and staff welcomed us and I am grateful. Look at this view!! *see attached photos* COVID19 is addressed Please note: There is a hotel being built directly in front, that has hindered the ocean view rooms unfortunately. The hotel staff makes up for the inconvenience in excellent customer service! Also, Covid19 has reduced the hot breakfast to grab and go. The grab and go comes in individually wrapped boxes to order. This is pretty cool because it limits the everyone touching your food thing. Pool request require same day reservation and the jacuzzi is not open. There are hand sanitation installed devices on property as well as request to wear mask. The fire 🔥 pits were not available during our stay but the lounge area was still large and open enough for us to look and relax outside a bit while watching the Oceanview. If you go to the 2nd or 6th floor terraces, there is plenty of viewing space of the ocean if your room isn't able to see it. I took these pictures from my room. They do not give justice as the sight is amazing! If you must get away, this is where I suggest! Family friendly, couple friendly, near food, ocean and bars too. Nearby parking if you choose not to park at the hotel. I suggest you DO as its secure and easy. Overall, thank you for such an amazing time. I cant wait to enjoy your full amenities once it is safe to do so!!!…
I don’t know why some of the reviews are so negative. It’s not the fault of the hotel that there’s a massive new hotel being built right in front of it to block its ocean views. I would blame the city for probably being greedy to allow more construction right along the beach. In fact, if you want to enjoy Oceanside before it gets too crowded, stay here before the new hotel is done. The staff at Springhill was always cheerful and helpful. The rooms were great. Sometimes we heard a little train noise but it didn’t interfere with our sleep. The breakfast grab and go bags were mediocre. In order to improve it, I think they should skip the low quality croissants and add bananas or more apples. In terms of cleanliness, you can only control yourselves. Some guests weren’t so good about wearing their masks, but we steered clear of them. If you’re in a position to decide to stay at a hotel, you’re going to have to assume that not all guests abide by the mask wearing rules. Just be vigilant yourselves and you’ll be fine. The hotel is close to many great restaurants. We enjoyed great Thai food just a few blocks up close to coast highway. Spring Hill is also an easy walk to the pier. Great spot for kids. The swimming pool is on a reservation based system. It’s not ideal but it works for these Covid times. We would stay here again.…
Stayed here the week of August 10, 2020. The staff is very polite and accommodating. Those serving the so called breakfast were great. Housekeeping, not so much, though not their fault. As others have said, numerous signs in the hotel and lobby stating "masks must be worn". No one enforces any of the rules regarding Covid. Many people in the lobby without masks, and nothing said. Elevator states max of 4, unless all belong to the same family. We had to block entrance to the elevator we were on, on numerous occasion. Groups of 4 or five wanted to get on, with my 3 family members. Luckily no one tried to force their way on. Didn't much feel like playing enforcer. We received housekeeping, every third day. We were told to call down for towels, and place trash in the hall. Hotel would not provide towels at the desk. Twice we had to wait 2 hours to receive towels. One day we called down 3 times for towels, before they arrived. I don't think it was our place to empty trash cans daily, especially when paying close to $300 a night. Trash can overflowed daily. Seems to me they where using the Covid crisis as a way to cut costs and staff. Rooms should have been done every day. Housekeeping did a decent job, but every third day was really too long of a wait Breakfast, was more like a snack. The usual bagels, miniature muffins, small yogurts, etc. A pretty downsized breakfast. Another way to cut costs, and yes the folks working the breakfastline, did a great job. Limited menu, and you could only order a certain amount. The items available were all of the "mini size", perfect for children too small for adults. And there was a long line, pretty ridiculous. Again cost cutting, less staff. The pool is a disaster. The guests were fine at the pool, you did need to reserve a time slot. There is NO ONE their monitoring the pool. Several times the special key to enter the pool area did not work. Thus we had to go back down to the lobby and get another key. So if you get there at 10 AM, you could stay all day, though the rule was 2 hours per party. One day we were there, there were 23 people in the pool area. We used the pool everyday, the same dirt, laid in the same area of the pool. No one vacuumed or cleaned the pool. Hopefully the chemicals were in order. Some lounge chairs were ripping apart, not a real safe situation. Bottom line, no one enforces the Covid rules, housekeeping needs to come everyday, the breakfast needs to be greatly enhanced, and I should not be playing trashman while on vacation. Unfortunately this hotel will not be a consideration for our next family visit. AVOID!…
