Stayed here while visiting my HQ offices and found this hotel overpriced and not very nice. I guess most hotels in Oakland are expensive, which is a mystery to me given the area where the Clarion and other hotels are located, can be pretty rough early in the morning or at night. My room was clean and comfortable, but it... More

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, nice breakfast in the morning all for an affordable rate, what more does one need? The rooms are small but it's Oakland. Go out, see the sites and eat some yummy Bay Area cuisine.

staff was very unhelpful, rooms were super tiny, could not open the door with out hitting the bed and could not get my luggage into the room. super outdated beds, coffee maker. oh yeah coffee is not something you would want to drink, AC did not work well enough to cool a small 300 SQFT room

My husband and I stayed here for a half marathon race in downtown Oakland we both were running the following day. There was no microwave in the room but the front desk was quick to make sure we had one! The room was clean. Perfect location downtown! Would definitely stay here again.

My friend and I booked this hotel for a girls night out as its close to Bart. Check-in was long, clerk was slow. We were supposed to have 2 beds as per our reservation we were told they have one room with 2 beds and it's already gone. Our room was tiny as you can tell from pictures. It was... More

I stayed here for the bar exam and was absolutely delighted with it. The room was small but well-equipped, with an amazingly comfortable bed. It was very very quiet. Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, and the breakfast options were superb. It's very centrally located just a block from Broadway (and 12th Street BART station) with a... More

I stayed here to take the bar exam. I highly recommend it. Much cheaper than the Marriott and you have all that you need. My room came with a refrigerator and microwave (I suggest requesting it a few weeks in advance) and a relatively nice view of some trees (you're in downtown Oakland). Staff was really nice, and there was... More

This hotel is well located for the Oakland convention center and it is in a safe location, however, I wouldn't recommend it. The room is literally the smallest hotel room I have been in any hotel in the world. The bed is a double, not a queen, and it was really uncomfortable. My back was aching after three nights there.... Thank you for responding to our survey. The hotel was built 1904 to accommodate the San Francisco fire people who lost there homes it is a historical building so there is little that could be done about the size of the room because of the layout. I would like to know more specific concerns you have about our breakfast. Regarding... More

The property looked well kept. I had a nice room with a very comfortable bed. The front desk staff was exceptionally friendly, efficient and accommodating. Pulle, the main desk clerk gave me a nice upgrade to a larger room and king bed. The breakfast was quite substantial, though it needed replenishment @ 8:00 am. The location was downtown Oakland and... More

This is the story of a hotel that is trying hard! And it shows. By that, I mean it is located in a seedy neighborhood where the car gets parked in a cage the front door is locked and homeless people roam (and sometimes yell out aggressively). BUT just a few blocks away are very charming places and it's just... More
