I'm still smiling from my weekend at Pelican Hill. I'm a San Diego resident and had driven by Pelican Hill on Newport Coast hundreds of times. I saw the name on the sign but had never been before. Having been invited to a weekend business seminar, I had the chance to finally visit. What immediately struck me was the stunning location up the hill from the Pacific Ocean. The views are incredible. But, as I drove into the property the next thing that struck me was the resort itself, the Italian architecture, the manicured lawns and landscaping, and the relaxed use of space. Then, however, things accelerated even further. What stuck out to me was the absolute flawless and consistent interaction and service I received from every single employee. We all expect luxury resorts to have a standard of service and probably all of us will say that one department or another was great or was lacking. At Pelican Hill, every-single-person was customer and service focused. The valets on arrival, the front desk team, bellmen, housekeeping, room services, the golf cart drivers to your room, restaurant reception, the bar, the servers, dining, coffee shop, and on and on. It truly was extraordinary. The accommodations were terrific. Nice sized rooms, fireplace, ocean view, large bathroom, lots of storage, large terrace, espresso makers, welcome gifts. Again, not a thing was missed. I also can't stop thinking about the cuisine from the pool side lunch to the dinners we had. Top notch. The resort is gorgeous, the public rooms spacious, the flowers, art, and other design features were also delightful to be part of. Pelican Hill is my new favorite place in Southern California. Don't miss it. …
Excellent experience for my family. Beautiful setting and wonderful service. Rented a four bedroom Villa. Food was excellent. Management excellent. Coliseum pool was a hit with grandkids. Easy access and short walk to beaches.
This resort is truly special. It is first-class all the way, from the bungalow appointments to the grounds to the lobby/sitting areas. And the service was fantastic. The Mediterranean architecture is gorgeous as are the vistas of the Pacific Ocean. I booked a garden-view room with guaranteed upgrade to ocean view. The patio was spacious, and I loved having a fireplace. Having said all that, I did run into a problem with street noise. While I requested a quiet location, I was placed in a bungalow located at the base of a hill overlooking a main road, which seemed to be a favorite location for folks to rev their high-horsepower engines. When I informed the front desk of the issue the next day, I was relocated to a quieter room. They were very pleasant and apologetic for the booking error (apparently that location was well-known to be right off the street); however, the relocation put a bit of a damper on what I intended to be a solo (albeit expensive) relaxing getaway. Eventually, I was granted a concession on certain charges, but I wished I did not have to call back to ask for it. When I drove up to check-in, the valet was reluctant to let me park my car off to the side in one of several vacant parking spaces. He stated that they were getting pretty busy, but I saw no more than three vehicles on a non-busy Wednesday at midday. I didn't want my car parked because I would need to drive it to my bungalow where residents were provided with private parking spaces. Given the luxury of this resort, I expected more to their fitness center. Fairly basic, but it will do. For some reason, I got electric shocks into my personal earphones while walking on two different treadmills. I've since used those same earphones at home without any problem. Not sure what that is about. All-in-all, this was a great stay, and I would do it again.…
The pictures are spot on, and the entire resort is beautiful. The staff treat customers like gold, and I can't say enough good things about this place. The pool is huge. The grounds are impeccable. Food was good, but there were so many quality local options that we rarely ate at the resort.
The best resort experience in SoCal! The facilities are great, but the staff makes such a difference! Most genuine and caring staff! And the grounds are just breathtaking! Favorite spot for bringing the family!
Truly enjoyed my stay here. Even for a non golfer there are plenty of activities. The Villas are extremely spacious, food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. Also met some celebrities during breakfast. To be repeated.
Stunning in almost all respects - yes, it's very expensive but the service model they adopt is just so good - it's a little like 1st class air travel, everyone should try & experience it at least once. Why haven't we scored it a 5? Well, we didn't think the standard of the dining experience was to the same standard, the Colosseum was seriously mediocre/poor & the Grill restaurant whilst being top quality in respect of food, was way over priced and lacking in atmosphere- it was more like an up market sports bar. It was a shame the Italian restaurant was closed during our visit. The bungalow rooms were simply stunning - magnificent outlook, comfortable, spacious, stylishly kitted out, lovely balcony, luxurious bathroom - a real wow factor. Really loved the huge pool area, very stylish, just a lovely way to relax - the service to your sun lounger is all very decadent - lovely way to spend an afternoon in the sun. We loved the complimentary transport around the resort - your staff are so warm & friendly - they really help you to enjoy your visit. Finally we would like to make a special mention to Katrina at the front desk - in 3 weeks staying in smart locations along the Pacific she was streets ahead of anyone we had dealt with. Very professional, an excellent listener (that's a real skill), friendly but also decisive in dealing with the couple of issues we had. Quite often, people in these situations can be slightly defensive, or dare I say ineffective, not Katrina - she embodied everything that we believe Pelican Hill resort stands for, I do hope you share this with her. Would we recommend to others, yes of course, it really is delightful, thank you.…
We are regular visitors to Pelican Hill. Hands down, best service, value, and atmosphere. The latest was for my wifes 45th. They treated her and her friends like royalty. All 4 of them raved about the spa treatments.
Exquisite property, always well-maintained grounds, superb service, and first-rate amenities! The views are spectacular and the there are many top-rate activities, especially the golf! Will be visiting more frequently now that we have a Chapman U student.
Returning for our 1 year wedding anniversary Pam made everything possible and so easy! She helped me arrange our pregnancy photoshoot on the beautiful Pelican Hill property. Absolute highest level of professionalism and service as always!
