i stayed 4 nights in a male dorm. The hostel was clean and staff friendly and helpful, they even made the pancakes for breakfast. real strawberry jam, thankyou. a mixed crowd of varying ages, definitely not a party hostel, but a nice homely feel. the piano and guitar were actually used by some people, a few were even very talented....

Fell in love with the area in February and returned in October. My wife and I had a private room in this clean, friendly and efficient hostel. Special thanks go to Thomas for clearing an admin issue created by my Australian Travellers Card. Looking forward to returning for a third visit!

There isn't a lot to do in Monterey and this hostel reflects that well. It's quiet and peaceful not nothing really ever happens. We were given shower tokens to allow us a few minutes of shower time and I thought this was a great way for the hostel to help us not waste water in the drought. There was a...

They had codes for the bedrooms which was very secure and meant you didnt have to worry about losing the key. (code for the front door too). It had the potential to be a really nice environment, a nice living room and social area, although while we were there the atmosphere was rubbish and there were alot of families staying....

Highlight here is the temperpedic mattresses! You won't find a more comfortable sleeping experience. Pretty bare bones otherwise. Showers on timers because of the drought in Central Coast California. No really nice outdoor space. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Homemade pancakes and oatmeal for breakfast. Clean bathrooms and showers. Would stay here again. Great location three blocks from Aquarium...

The breakfast isn't good. But bed is comfortable and very clean. There is the bed light to help you feel owned place. The whole dorm has big space to put stuff. Staffs are nice. The shower rooms needs the token to limit the time use. Overall the restroom is clean too. Nice and cosy living room. The cleanest hostel in...

Monterey was totally different to what I was expecting - to be fair I don't really know what I was expecting. Its very quiet....We were there on a Sunday, fair enough, but still...it was like a ghost town. The hostel was great, really spacious rooms which are sometimes hard to come by in hostels. The common area was comfy and...

I stayed here in October 2013 with a friend whilst road tripping through California, north to south. We found this hostel pretty easy to find once you've got the hand of their one way roads, and were relieved to see they have plenty of free parking (it is open though). It is located about 5 minutes walk up hill away...

Everything you could hope for. Great location, friendly staff and good facilities. I was in the mixed dorm, it was spacious and quiet. The common areas are fantastic. Huge lounge room with comfy sofa's and the kitchen is excellent. Free breakfast in the morning was great, pancakes, oatmeal and toast. Overall a fantastic stay, could not fault anything!

My first time in a hostel and I'm afraid I may have been spoiled. My wife and I stayed over Labor Day Weekend as a prelude to trying Hostels in Ireland next spring. We are both in our 60's and were a little concerned we might be out of place and also about privacy. Firstly there were others there our...
