I travel extensively throughout the year. I am a top-tier member of nearly every major hotel chain. However, for my money, the Padre Oaks Inn is the best. The management is extremely professional, courteous, and polite, the staff is exceptional, the hotel is located directly across the street from the major mall in Monterey, it's in a very safe neighborhood,... My wife and I were visiting Monterey for a weekend in February. We did not book a hotel in advance, so we tried to book into several motels. At one of the motels we were asked to try another one, because there were road construction work outside for the whole weekend. We think that was fair to tell us that.... More

A very pleasant stay... me & wife always go around the area so much, we like to walk around the beach, fisherman's wharf (too much clam chowder), to the parks and of course drive down the coast & church (mission) to the Ocean Dr. & around... so use this motel for sleeping & resting... a very clean room and a... Booked in for one night on our way through Monterey, had tried 3 other motels but all fully booked so when this room was available, we didnt feel we should turn it down. Room was small but clean. The bed was comfortable, but the toilet paper and walls very thin. I woke in the middle of the night to hear... More

We rented a room for one night, mostly because the other motels around it were fully booked. It wasn't stellar, but I didn't feel cheated at all. The room was clean, the shower running and hot, the beds were above average and it was quiet. The lack of airco was no problem in late september. About the only thing that... More

Based on previous bad reviews, I somewhat agree, but have to say it is clean but very basic. Yes, the pool has been a garden for several years, and the toilet paper and walls are thin, and parking is difficult. But travelers to the Monterey area need to know several things: 1) Almost all lodging is very old. 2) Lodging... More

staed here and it was cheap, decent location along hotel row. parking is terrible, its a dead end parking lot with one way in and you have to back out of your spot and the lot then turn at the pool and exit the hotel lot. probably wont be back unless im looking for a cheap place to stay for... I was scheduled to stay 5 days for a retreat. The place was old and furnished cheap, but I was glad to find a reasonable rate in Monterey. When I entered the room, it was filled with a toxic bleach smell. Tried to open the window, but it was stuck. Called the office to help me open it. One of... More
