We visited Monterey for a one nite quick trip over President's Day weekend. We found the hotel to be located in the heart of the city and close to all the attractions the city has to offer. We stayed in the old part of the hotel in a suite that overlooked Alvarado St. The renovations to the hotel make it...

The Monterey Hotel was just where we wanted to be, downtown, close to wharf, close to Golden State Theatre to see Brian Regan. We were greeted warmly, quickly, and a small snaffu with keycards was resolved by giving us an even nicer room at no extra charge. Breakfast was adequate.

We really were pleased with the hotel. Wonderful, friendly staff and great continental breakfast. We would definitely go back. The location was wonderful. Montrio Restaurant across the street is sooo good!

This is a very nice place to stay for the $ and the staff is excellent. Room was clean, everything worked fine, had a nice continental breakfast available in the AM. Keurig coffee machine in the room. I would definitely use this hotel again. Very centrally located in a nice part of downtown, an easy walk to the wharf.

Our stay here couldn't have been nicer. From checkin to checkout, everything we needed was taken care of. We asked for an extra chair, and it was brought up right away. There was no microwave in our historic room, and the staff offered to run up and down from our room to the microwave in the breakfast room to help!...

Can not beat the location and staff. Ashley and Graeson have always been very helpful. It is an older building, so the rooms can be small. Overall it's a wonderful place to stay. Rooms have always been quiet every time I stay there. There's parking a block away in the Downtown parking garage if you prefer to park your own...

The Monterey Hotel is a perfect escape from the tourist area of a beautiful city. Enjoy touring then return to a quiet bed. Great restaurants are walking distance. The new renovations are very nice and installation of an elevator is a bonus. Breakfast is a treat of pastries, cereal, fruit, coffee, tea.....more than enough.
