We booked this hotel online for the day after Thanksgiving. We were able to get one of the rooms in the older part of the building , and breakfast was included in our rate. The location of this hotel is terrific. It is just across the street from Old Fisherman's Wharf, a pretty easy walk, but it is close to... More

The staff were amazingly friendly from when we turned up, full of useless tips of where to go and nice places to eat. We were lucky enough to get a room upgrade and I have to say it was incredible. The bed was the biggest I have ever seen and we loved it! Best thing about the room. The breakfast... More

We just got back from two nights last week at The Monterey Hotel --an historic hotel in the heart of downtown Monterey. It was charming, staff was pleasant and accommodating, location is great -- walkable to Aquarium and lots of nearby restaurants. Hotel also offers free continental breakfast. Our internet rate was $99 for a King room (Queen was $89),... More

This great hotel is located in downtown Monterey and run by attentive staff. Check-in and Check-out was a breeze. While there is no on-site parking, there is enough street parking nearby as well as a parking garage less than a block away. The room was small, but nicely furnished.

This is a very sweet hotel on a main street in Monterey - just a short walk to the wharf and not too far to Cannery Row. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. We booked a king standard room which was a good size and it had an electric fireplace which was lovely. Bed and pillows very comfortable.... More

For location, this place would be hard to beat; it's about 10 minutes from Fisherman's Wharf and the only "distraction" is the market at the other end of Alvarado Street, worth a visit in its own right. The building looks and feels as though it has been there long enough to know its business. My room had the old style... More

This hotel is ideally placed to visit the local highlights. In easy walking du stance to many of the local attractions. It doesn't have car parking but for $21 a night we got valet parking. The hotel seems to have two halves. The from original part of the building and then a newer section at the back. Our room was... More

Stayed here in a Queen Room for one night in mid-October while driving down the coast. The room and bathroom were clean, but found the bathtub smelled a tad musty. I had a room on the first floor close to the front stairs, and have to say I could hear the footsteps of every person heading up and down them.... More

Beautiful and quaint decor, street parking option which is cheaper as long as you move your car by 10 a.m. Walk to fabulous restaurants. We took an early morning walk down the bay. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Short walk to the pier where the whale watching tours depart from too. Decent variety of continental breakfast.

We were upgraded to a suite in the historic part of the building. The living room had a working gas fireplace (although it was too warm to need it). Very nice super pillowy bed, great amenities in the BR, with strong water pressure. No view out the window. Front desk and bell staff helpful, friendly, great suggestions for local restaurants...
