Easy check-in process. Free parking for length of stay. Happy hour. Wine on tap. Selection of craft beers and hard alcohol. Reasonably priced bottles. Coffee and hot cocoa dispenser. Some rooms like ours have private balconies. Ten minutes from SFO. Friendly staff. Free WiFi — you listening Wyndham? The list of little things that add up to a great experience is too long to include everything. But a few more: large comfortable room. Shuttle. Extended parking 10/day. Can’t say enough good things about the Dylan (also one of my son’s first name). Will stay here again if needed, and do heartily recommend this establishment. Thank you.

DO NOT take their phony upsell to “deluxe” room. It was supposed to include queen beds (we got doubles) and a bottle of wine (did not receive), per Lajos who checked us in and complained non-stop about the COVID procedures and restrictions and how we are being communists to require these protective procedures. It does not give me confidence to go back again. Next day, Supervisor Anna was of no help. So, we got conned by the hotel. I understand the industry is going through tough times, but deceit is not the way to get repeat business.

Response from Christina Ongerth, Owner at The Dylan Hotel at SFO
Responded 11 Jan 2021
We appreciate when a guest takes the time to write a review but the Dylan must respond when the review states false information. We have security cameras throughout the public spaces at the hotel. At the front desk we also have audio recording. We can review any guest encounter with our front desk which is exactly what we did when receiving this review. Our long time front desk agent, Lajos, did offer this guest an upgrade to a deluxe room (which we do to all of our guests who book a traditional room). He offered them a deluxe room with two queen beds which is what this guest accepted. He never offered them two free glasses of wine as we never offer that with an upgrade. All of deluxe two bedded rooms have two queen beds. All of our housekeeping staff has been employed for more than ten years and do an exemplary job as indicated by the numerous awards the Dylan receives for cleanliness. The guest never contacted the front desk with any issues about the room until they checked out. The Dylan takes the COVID procedures very seriously. We have all of the proper signage posted. If necessary we will remind all guests that they must wear a mask whenever entering our lobby and social distance. We also provide hand sanitizer in the lobby for all guests to use if they choose. It is a shame that an occasional guest attempts to take advantage of a small business just trying to survive in the middle of a pandemic by falsely stating events in order to receive monetary retribution.

The place is super affordable, even for the balcony rooms. Anna the hostess was awesome and friendly! 10 min to SF, 20 to San Jose and is right outside one of the BART stations. There’s also a ton of good food nearby as well as starbucks / coffee places

We were advised by email that we would be able to store a cooler with the hotel upon check in for the 2 nights we were transiting in San Francisco. However, at check in, the General Manager refused to see the email we were sent with this confirmation and denied our request to store anything outside of our room. When we told her that we had made enquiries prior to check in so that we could stay somewhere that could offer this for us, she too easily told us she could cancel our reservation then and there. It was too late for us to make other enquiries in nearby hotels as it was after 8pm, and cancelling our reservation did not guarantee a full refund either. We had to make do with the small fridge inside the room and purchasing ice bags to keep cool the items in the cooler that could not fit in the fridge. The bathroom door was also basically hanging off its hinge. The room had great amenities, just a pity that the staff and its maintenance are below standard.

The rooms were spacious and very well appointed with outlets that were convenient and a beautiful bathroom. Great thought was given to each detail to ensure that a guest would have everything at his or hers fingertips. And the best news is that the Dylan is right next to the BART station which makes it really easy to travel into SF.
