26 miles downstream from Yosemite Valley , we are located on a small valley under a grove of oaks in a former scouts camp. We are best known for our authentic old-style mountain resort character and social atmosphere. We have everyone from backpackers to young families who enjoy this place. The June Bug Cafe focuses on sustainable, local and fresh, in a daily changing menu with excellent vegan and vegetarian options as well as standard meats and seafood. The Cafe is considered to be one of the five best in the Yosemite Region. The Yosemite Health Spa is social and busy with herbal soaks, H2O2 Hot Tub and a hot rocks sauna. We have yoga on weekends. The private rooms are decorated well but all are different in style. Our family cabins and dorms are very popular. We align with the Hostelling International brand for our backpacker dorms. All accommodations are in stilted cabins. Tent Cabins are all well appointed and can be heated or regular for budget travellers.

This place is amazing! Well worth a stay. The room we stayed in was full of interesting art and design. The location is stunning, with a really scenic drive to the valley. We ate in the restaurant and the food and drink was great. They also sell a trail lunch which we found super convenient. The person who runs the Bug has done such a good job. Really hope we can return one day.

We love to stay in places that will add to the experience/adventure and Yosemite Bug did just that! We had 6 people and opted for the larger tent cabins. 3 cabins each with 2 people. I highly recommend getting the larger tent cabins so you have plenty of space for your luggage! The tent cabins were what we expected…not spotless, but the beds were clean and comfortable. It is important to know that you will be walking and climbing a lot of steps! They do have other options that are closer to the main area though if climbing lots of steps is not your thing! The kitchen area was perfect. There were three cooking stations, a large refrigerator with bins so you could label bins for your things, and also a shelf of bins for your non-refrigerated goods. We cooked several meals in…

This hotel is super quirky but has a lot of charm, is clean and comfortable, amazing food, and has tons of personality. Highly recommended. I had my doubts given how remote the location is but it's one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at in a while.

Great few days. Staff was fantastic, room was clean and cozy, food and wine was great. Arrived early for breakfast and the staff was still welcoming and accommodating. A great place to stay if visiting the area and looking for a fun, relaxed environment.

We stayed here as it was sitauted close to Yosemite and was a very decent price. Didn't realise it would be sooo "Rustic" and the rooms are definitely quirky. Ours was the one with the pictures of Chinese ladies....mmmm..odd but cool none the less. The place was perfectly located for the 30 min drive to Yosemite. Room was comfortable, beer was good, and cheaper than anywhere else in California! Breakfast was excellent. If you like 5* luxury, stay somewhere else. But if you want a cabin in the woods, peace and quiet and an affordable price. Stay here.

Resort feeling: I liked the international mix of guests, and the diversity of accommodations for both backpackers’ hostel and upscale visitors renting cabins. The air conditioning was a small problem, as there was one thermostat in the hall for three rooms, leading to conflict about temperature settings. Close to the Merced River, lively landscape, nice staff. The restaurant was pricey, we found, but excellent food. The communal kitchen for cooking is small but really well equipped.

Stayed in the Hostel room. It was clean, decent. It was a fairly small room so I was happy that there were no snorers. Breakfast was good, but a little pricey. The reason for the 3 star rating, was apparently I clicked on the wrong dates for my reservation. When I arrive they informed me that my reservation was for the night before and they had already charged me. They were completely matter of fact about it and offered ABSOLUTELY no words of understanding or sympathy. I understand that it was my fault and completely accept that they did not owe me any monetary compensation. But really, you can't even be nice about it and be sorry that I just paid for nothing. Nor did I ever received any communication like a final bill that would have let me know I had paid for a night…

We stayed at the Hummingbird Cabin while at Yosemite Bug. This is across the highway from the main resort up a steep roadway. We were informed at reception that this is a ‘sub-let’ and they were not responsible for what happens there. The cabin is owned by the people in the house above the cabin. The cabin is in a quiet locale and is a good size for two people in a bed-sit format. The bed was nice to sleep on and the kitchen well equipped except for a sieve or colander. The bathroom is large and adequate. There is aircon. It is a very nice rustic retreat. Two niggles: 1. We had to keep asking for toilet roll. Tip - two rolls will not suffice for six days. Luckily for us the main reception helped out with their supplies and said they’d take the matter up with the cabin…

Awkward, odd location--Google Maps couldn't find it, sent me down some very sketchy private roads. Unpaved parking and walkways to/from rooms; muddy if there's rain. Noisy, very noisy. No microwave or coffee service (or TV); my room did have a great fridge. Extremely slow and inconsistent wifi. Quirky decor may appeal to some. Difficult, slow drive into Yosemite. All in all, GROSSLY overpriced at $220/night, based on a reservation made in January for May stay. If you're looking for something akin to a backpacking hostel and you don't mind a pokey 52-mile round trip to/from the park, this may be the place for you. If you need or want a few more normal lodging amenities and/or more convenient access to Yosemite, I strongly suggest looking at either Cedar Lodge or…

my daughter and i just returned from the yosemite bug. our trip was two fold. she will be hosting a yoga retreat there soon and we wanted to visit yosemite park which is about 40 minutes away. check-in was fast and easy. the resort is rustic and the cabins are set in a hillside. there are different types of rooms and the website describes the difference. we chose a 2 queen bed cabin on stilts. the room was great, beds comfy, lots of lighting, a/c, heat, refrig, dressers, a couple of chairs, full length mirror, nice shower, plush towels, bath soap, shampoo, conditioner--which is usually not included, and a small table and chairs outside the front door. (great for enjoying your wine before dinner). the food at the cafe was delicious. we had the breakfast buffet that included…
