I think this hotel is priced too high for what you get. The service was actually quite bad when we first checked in. We stayed for a few nights, so I can safely say that it wasn't uniformly horrible, but one does expect a bit more professionalism. The room was fine and the view was superb. The bedding was comfortable.... More

The location is stunning and the Hill House Inn offers quaint and charming accommodation with large, spacious rooms with lovely views. The room was very clean and the bed and layout of the room comfortable. Unfortunately, we felt that the gardens and maintenance of the hotel itself hadn't been kept up to the standard that it obviously once had (back... More

Rooms clean, large and quiet. Bedding fine. Dated decore, but well kept. No signs in the rooms of maintenance or wear and tear issues. No main desk after 10PM. We checked in after 1AM and had to drive over to a sister hotel- where front desk staf was gone for 30 minutes. I called the hotel to roust him. Oh... More

The room had all you needed, the view was nice and the lobby and bar was old time charming. Unfortunately they did not serve breakfast except at their sister hotel and the bar closed at 9. Luckily the proximity to the town makes up for some of this.

We are on a road trip and booked last minute. Tonya at check in was great and had good suggestions for dinner. Trish at check out was super sweet and knew a lot about the flowers in the beautiful gardens. Service is definitely on point! The hotel restaurant is closed for remodeling but we were offered a 15% discount at... More

Loved the short walk out to the ocean and the room had all the ambiance of old world charm. Liked that Murder She Wrote was filmed there since that was a TV series that I watched all the time. We did face a power outage in our room the next day, but they gave us a nice discount for our... More

Great location. Very short walk to shops and restaurants. Our room had an ocean view (incl light from Port Cabrillo Lighthouse) & a balcony. Gas fireplace. Real coffee pot, not a Kurig. Clean, comfortable rooms. Nice gardens. No desk, but there was a round table. Incredibly noisy sliding door --- it could wake the dead. Terrible bed. Poor WiFi and... More

We stopped here for one night on our road trip from San Fran to Southern Oregon, the room was roomy and clean, all you need for an overnight stop, the town of Mendocino was a typically old western town with the wooden boardwalks and could imagine John Wayne on horseback wandering through here in years gone by.The views of the Pacific Ocean... My husband and I stayed here for our mini getaway. The room we stayed in was facing the ocean and it was very calm with a nice cool breeze. We slept with our windows open and I absolutely loved it! The place itself needs some love but the staff were friendly and service was good overall.

Booked a sea view room...the first one was partial to say the least and what you could see was through a filthy window. We asked to be moved and the view from the new room was a huge improvement plus we had a balcony . Room decor was dated but the bed big and really comfy. Located an easy walk... More
