Good hotel. Scenic rooftop bar, nice pool/spa area, and large fitness room. The room was spacious with a large bathroom area. Bed was comfortable and the lighting/storage area was sufficient. I though the tv was a little small, for the size of the room, and I prefer the fridge to not be stocked. Also, the bottled water was not complimentary. The elevator system is a little annoying but manageable. I would stay again.

Booked for one night on December 3rd (Room 4031) for an overnight trip from San Diego and was generously assisted by Chris at the Frontdesk. She went above and beyond to ensure our first stay here was amazing. Both property and service far exceeded my expectations and will definitely be recommending to family and friends. Very new hotel. The rooms are spacious excellent for a hotel in downtown.

Check-in on 70th floor. Must go up to 73th floor rooftop bar. Excellent 360 view of LA

Overnight parking is expensive. Alternative cheaper carpark half the price just opposite

We have chosen this hotel for our summer trip around California based on the great reviews. But the experience we had with InterContinental made the bad taste in our mouths and limited the next parts of our vacation on the West Coast.

Positive - high level of general hospitality with great consierge. Great location with easy connection to any part of LA including Santa Monica, Hollywood Boulevard or Universal City. Bar on the rooftop is something you have to visit, not only because of the view, but also thanks to the great cuisine. I was just surprised that you can’t reserve your table in advance, This always leaves you in jeopardy if the bar is closed for the organized party or is fully occupied. We had the great opportunity to be in LA on July 4th holiday, so we went for a dinner on the rooftop and got our table (as the last free one) at 5:30 PM, Thanks to bars full occupancy, waiting for the ordered drinks and meals was longer than expected.

Coming to your room from the street level through the floor 70 is something you can live with, even if you would expect more comfortable way to the floor you have your room on.

Negative surprise - it was the week I saw the Breakfast restaurant of IC DTLA at some hipsters’ online list of “top restaurants for Instagram photo”. Maybe the architect did his great job, but it was total useless. Large massive tables could be used by limited groups of guests coming for their breakfast, the waitresses weren’t able to find free place for newcomers,so they kindly asked you to wait 15-20 minutes for your table. The problem was when you came for your breakfast at 9.30 and the waitress asked you to wait for your table 20 minutes - so you got your table at 9.50 and at 10.00, the staff started to pack the breakfast buffet. This is a true story. And regarding the products at the breakfast buffet - I was really surprised that the offer was the same for all 5 days. And as we needed to leave the hotel on our last day early in the morning - there was no possibility to get any kind of breakfast package(e.g. just donut, apple and bottle of water) at 6.00 AM, although we had paid for the breakfast.

The really bad taste in mount that lasted - We have planned our trip the way that we had 3 nights at IC DTLA, then went for a trip to Grand Canyon and returned back to IC DTLA for another 3 nights. Then our trip followed to SF, Carmel and Santa Barbara. We have paid everything correctly and didn’t made any harm to the hotel. I completely understand that hotel uses the deposit on your card for one extra night for unexpected expenses and that they release it once everything is clear. I don’t use to check my spending on card often, but when we came from LA to SF, we were really shocked that the hotel locked on my card value of two extra nights (approximately 2x250EUR) and another extra money without any explanation, probably at our second arrival to LA, in the amount of app. 800 EUR. I called the guest service and they confirmed that they made these deposits and they promised that they will do their best to release them as soon as possible. As I needed my credit card for next parts of our stay at another three hotels and car rental company to pay for services, I was checking the situation daily, but nothing from Intercontinental management changed. After some days I tried to organize shared call with IC Billing Office and my European bank (it was night in Europe but the bank did its best) but IC representative recommended the only thing - please be patient and wait for the expiration of our locking of your money. Relief (and the expiration of IC blocking my money) came on the day when we returned back to Europe. Lesson learned - limit access to your card when visiting Intercontinental Downtown LA.

Booked a room using IHG Chase reward free night. I am a Platinum Ambassador at IHG, so I was upgraded from superior queen to deluxe queen room which was located at the corner of the hotel on the 49th floor. The room was very modern and clean with great view on expansive window on both sides of the room. At the check in, I was recognized as a ambassador member and was also given 600 bonus points and two drink coupons. I visited the Spire 73 bar with my family and enjoyed great views from the top of the hotel. The only downside was I had to wait 15 minutes at the lobby because the bar was already filled to maximum capacity. The bar is open at 4pm and I got to the entrance elevator at 4:15pm and was told to wait until space opened up. My recommendation for visiting the Spire 73 is get there before the bar is open or planning on waiting especially on weekends.

I didn't eat at the hotel's restaurants because I felt that it wasn't children friendly so I dined at restaurant nearby. When I came back from dinner, there was a basket of fruit, bottle of Evian water and delicious chocolate waiting for me with a letter from the concierge. Fruit was fresh and edible, unlike some other fruit basket that I received at other hotels.
The view was spectacular at night, my room was facing west to north west end of Los Angeles. I could see city of Glendale, Hollywood Sign, Dodgers Stadium and Koreatown from my room.

Overall, the hotel was very modern, clean, and comfortable. The room had comfortable slippers, descent toiletries, 4k LG tv with chromecast, and comfortable beds. Acess to internet was easy and fast. I only wish that there was more than 1 trash can in the room as it got full by end of the night.

I've read in previous posts regarding the confusion in elevator system. It is bit confusing at first but once you get used to it, it's not that bad. Also, valet was pricey at $48 per night but that's the going rate in DTLA so I'm not going to complain about that.

My family loved the experience of staying at the tallest building on west side of Mississippi and we shall be back. I traveled with my wife and my two children. I wouldn't exactly call this hotel children friendly given its location but the view and rooftop bar more than makes up for it.
