Built in 1912, we are the oldest beach-front hotel in Los Angeles; Historic-Cultural Monument #1156. Our family-owned & operated hotel features a relaxing rooftop deck and the only public balconies on the Boardwalk . All 24 of our fully-furnished studios offer a queen bed, mini-kitchen & private bathroom and complimentary daily housekeeping & Wi-Fi.
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
I've stayed at this boutique hotel numerous times over the years and have always found the place and staff to be top-notch! The rooms are immaculate every time and the staff remembers my name no matter how long it's been since I was there last. This place is a gem and I recommend it to my family and friends which says a lot.
Thanks to Matt, Danielle and the rest at VBS for making it such a pleasurable place to stay.
We loved our visit to the Venice Beach Suits and Inn! It was clean, quiet, comfortable beds—everything I like! Being steps away from the beach was wonderful and the staff was so helpful especially when I had a parking problem—a staffer negotiated a with the parking company! We were so grateful!
Some profoundly spiritual has been calling me to this area, so may it be! And this was indeed a wonderful trip to us! As we celebrated Our 25th Anniversary, I can honestly check off my bucket list a nice stay in Las Vegas and a Convertible drive thru the Mojave Desert straight to L.A. and the West Coast. And per my dreams, we had to stay on Venice Beach. Well as you may have figured by now, my Wife kinda just tagged along with my vision so hopefully I can make her feel the free spirited essence too. Our accommodations at Venice Beach Hotel and Suites was pretty much what I'd expected as far as a nice intimate room w a kitchenette...We arrived right after closing and the staff made it a point to call us and email to make sure we had after hours instructions for access while we were in route. That made us feel really good about their professionaism. Shoutouts to Matt & Danielle Ms. Trixie 😉😉 for going above and beyond to make us feel at home, and Thanks for the cool Shades and pens. We fell in Love with that Antique Elevator frfr it truly takes you back in time. This Location was A1, and I just love stepping out in the mist of any area I travel to...(i.e. Time Square NY) on the Boardwalk I didn't know what to expect other than Muscle Beach and Skaters like we see on TV...the Homelessness was not a bother to me at all I actually made a friend (Wassup Brett) and met some great people. My Wife was a little bit timid with the visuals of blankets and tents, but after a stroll on the Boardwalk, Bike Rentals and a Romantic time at Santa Monica Pier we settled into the West Coast Zone. On our last night we finally remembered that we wanted to see Hollywood and the Walk of Fame...it was after 10pm so it was more shady, and dirtier than we expected but we made it saw and did that...check off. Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles was DA Bomb for a late night Bye Bye Cali meal. So to End this Book...VH&S was a great stay...Thanks for room 404 too our partial view was enough for us. If we're ever in the area again we'll make sure to say Hello. Thanks for making us feel great about our stay. Kudos to Venice Beach Hotel & Suites! Kind Regards, and Best Wishes Fred & Lynn from The ATL😍!

Hello Fred & Lynn! We can't thank you enough for including our historic hotel as part of your amazing trip in the Southwest. We all wish you heart-felt congratulations in your milestone anniversary! Way to make your dreams come true! Driving through the desert in a convertible is pretty awesome! Thank you again so very much.
The location was great, right on the boardwalk, where you get a great feel for the 'venice beach' vibe. However, the windows weren't great so you could hear everything going on outside. the shower was also a little off, as you could either have a boiling hot shower, or an ice cold one.
First of all, if you are driving I wouldn’t recommend this place. The parking is about a 10 minute walk and there isn’t a definite place to park your car for loading or unloading. The place you are supposed to be able to use for loading or unloading is usually full and not enforced with a 10-15 min max.
Next, the beautiful terrace on the roof is always full of smokers, so if you are not a smoker and can’t stand he smell of smoke, you pretty much won’t hang out up there.
The room was fine, but very hot. There is no AC, but they do have fans, which just moved the hot air around. We wanted to leave the windows open, but it was too noisy outside.
Finally, I know the homeless in the area are harmless, but as a woman, I did not feel comfortable being out after dark in the area as the homeless have pretty much set up campsites along the beach.
In hindsight, I wish I had just forked over the extra money and stayed in Santa Monica. Next time!

I’d like to respond point-by-point here, because this is a really good review for people who are trying to decide whether to stay in Venice Beach as opposed to Marina del Rey or Santa Monica in general and people wanting to learn about our hotel specifically. Parking and loading/unloading. Lots of places to stay in Venice, ours included, do not have onsite parking. There are clusters of parking lots nearby, but they do cost extra and all have different terms and conditions. That’s an important consideration when traveling. About half of our guests take taxis or car-share services from LAX. Pick-ups and drop-offs are easy at our rear entrance on Speedway, which L.A. Parking Enforcement monitors feverishly. Smoking on our rooftop deck. Do some of our guests try to sneak a smoke on our rooftop deck even though they shouldn’t? Sure. Is our rooftop deck always full of smokers? Of course not! And, if you were upset by this, let someone know. Any member of the hotel’s staff is more than happy to remind any guest that this is a non-smoking property. Room temperature. You’re right about our rooms, they can get stuffy and we do not have air-conditioning. With the ceiling fans, portable fans and screened windows, we make the best of it. The beach breeze is amazing and part of the joy of staying here. Homelessness in Venice Beach. This is an issue facing many communities in California and ours is no different. The Venice Beach Boardwalk and the surrounding area is a Park and it is open to anyone. Same with areas in Santa Monica and Marina del Rey. Good food for thought, here. Please feel free to reach out to us should you have any other questions, thoughts, requests or concerns when planning a vacation to Venice Beach!
We were not given a WiFi password and to be honest there is so much to see and do we didn't have the time or energy to log on. There is a restaurant 2 doors down that has WiFi and really good breakfast. Check out the rooftop... More

I'm sorry to say that we are sold out of our Ocean Front and Partial View rooms. We do have two Queen Studios left and while they don't offer a view, we are truly a beach-front hotel so you can walk out our front... More
I'm sorry to say that we are sold out of our Ocean Front and Partial View rooms. We do have two Queen Studios left and while they don't offer a view, we are truly a beach-front hotel so you can walk out our front door and be on the Boardwalk and at the beach!
Let me know if you have any other questions! We'd be happy to host your stay!
All the best,

Great question! The rooms in our historic hotel are not air-conditioned and it's typically not needed in our mild beach climate. All of our room do have ceiling fans and screened windows so you can let the ocean breeze in!
