The lobby of this hotel was deceptively nice for what are very dated, uncomfortable and small rooms. My companions were on Level 2 and the entire floor smelt of smoke (...meant to be a non-smoking level). The smell was even more intense in their room, clearly the previous occupant had spent the entire time smoking in there - it smelt...

I got the corner room above the club. The view was nice, the fire escape was a great place to sit and watch people. Really good stay for the value, would probably stay here again if I need to be downtown on a budget.

Throw in great price and location with mixed service and an old, somewhat dingy hotel and you have the Kawada Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Within sight of Angel's Lift, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Bradbury Building, one of the locations for Ridley Scott's class "Bladerunner," and the historic Grand Central Market, the Kawada Hotel is a walk away...

The nightclub underneath this place sounds great! Even from the second floor I can hear every word, note and bit of bass! ! (I'm currently listening to Snoop Dogg - drop it like its hot) It also helps that it's near absolutely nothing that we wanted to see in LA. We have met some lovely taxi drivers on our trips...

An average place to stay in an alright location in downtown LA. Train station opposite and little Tokyo down the road was convenient and easy access to bus stops. Otherwise the room itself was dark crammed and depressing with people constantly yelling outside my window at night The staff however were helpful and nice

We attend the Anime X every year for the last 12 years. The hotel we usually use was booked and we were offered the Kawada Hotel. NEVER use, stay or even book a room there. I'm handicapped and we were told we had the largest room in the hotel. The room was about 10x10. We had a full size bed....

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
