Stayed October 2013. We stayed here as we were leaving on a tour the next morning, and this was the suggested hotel to stay at. The driver kindly took us to a laundry as we needed to wash some clothes, but he had already been booked for later so couldn't pick us up. We didn't realise how hard it would...

The staff was Great and very helpful. The room was nice and accommodating for all our needs for the weekend . we really took advantage of the courtesy shuttle which all you had to do was tip the driver. Most of our events were at the Staples center so we generally gave the shuttle notice and they were awesome. Did...

My wife and I were in town for a one-night layover to switch Amtrak trains. The staff was extremely polite, friendly and accommodating; especially Jacob, the Bellman. He went out of his way to re-assure us (infrequent travelers) that everything will work out positively. He even secured our luggage after checkout, dropped us at Olvera Street for the day and...

The hotel is nice, fantastic service from the front desk, restaurant and especially the valet guys. My AC didn't work in the room and they sent a guy up quickly who had to go up into the ceiling but fixed it right away. The problem is, there is some type of daily protest outside the hotel and every morning, very...

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights after flying in from Australia. We didn't want to stay in the main tourist hub, so decided to stay downtown. This hotel was in a perfect spot for us. The area felt safe and was quite clean, and it was only a short walk to the metro station, where you can...

The biggest problem is the location. There is nothing for tourists to do in downtown L.A. except the Disney Concert Hall. It is reasonably close to Dodger Stadium. It's far from all the trendy shops and restaurants in West Hollywood. I found the hotel pretty good for a non-luxury brand. The lobby was great. Staff was very helpful and service-oriented....

The hotel is located in downtown next to little Tokyo...so you will find lots of Japanese around.....also you will find lot of home less people around which make a bit scary to roam around in night.,...rest everything is good about hotel...the room...the bed and linens. The staff is also very supportive in suggesting where all to go around....

DoubleTree was formerly the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens. I mention this as it explains the decorative theme in the Rendezvous Lounge. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Ironically we chose this hotel because of its downtown location, speifically it was close to the Art Museum. However, although the hotel was fine and its bar and restaurant were good, the area was very edgy. There is a huge homelessness problem and the hotel is in the middle of it, so a walk to anywhere was always a bit...

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
