Such a warm, loving place and people too! So much is close by. It's very clean and comfortable. I could walk to so many great places in Hollywood. The value is great! They are so caring, open-hearted and conscientious. They currently have many safety protocols in place for the pandemic so I felt very safe.

I flew into Los Angeles the day the the museums and other attractions started closing down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I arrived at the hostel in the afternoon, and the man who checked me took the time to show me the room I reserved and a room with a private restroom as an upgrade even though I'm sure he was stressed from a lot of calls/cancellations from worried travelers (he was cool as a cucumber, but took two calls while helping me from folks wanting to cancel). I was having second thoughts about being in LA during this evolving situation, and made the decision to get a last minute flight back home. I checked out two days ahead of schedule very early in the morning. The woman who helped me at check out was so understanding, and even refunded the two nights I would not be staying even though I did not ask/expect a refund. The Orange Drive Hostel is really handling this situation professionally, and with compassion, and I can't wait to reschedule my trip to LA once this all blows over and stay a full weekend here. It is a lovely, clean and bright hostel with a ton of history and is in an amazing location. You can walk right out on to Hollywood Blvd, but when you are on the property you feel a world away. Thank you ODH for your humanity and hospitality during a tough time.

I feel bad writing this review, but I'm hoping it can help the hostel improve. The staff was good, the location was good, and it was a definite value, but unfortunately, the hostel—both in our room (12) and outside of it—had a very musty smell that clung to our clothes and luggage. We got used to it while staying there, but after a few days home, our suitcase, laundry, and others bags still have a bad smell from being in the room. Not entirely sure how to describe it, as it seems like more than just an old building smell, but it but a damper on what would have been a great stay otherwise. Hopefully it's something Orange Drive Hostel can address.
