The Cosmos Street Podshare is not as it appears on the website. Located on an alley type street. People smoking crack and pot outside. Space is communal(which we were fine with), but is filthy, reminded me of a college dorm that is occupied by hoarders. Bags of "stuff", clothing, dishes, toys..covering every floor, stair and table surface. Glass pipe was lying out on a bed. Only available bed was on top of the "sound room" , approx 10 " up a wall via metal pipes, no rails or safety in place for that sleeping space. Only "safe" is a set of purse size lockers with no locks. Locks for sale at $3 each. Saw no space for our suitcase. Staff person was nice, said it was only bed and could move us to another Podshare a few blocks away. We left and did not return. I have since received a response from the Podshare. They stated it is a shared space, which we knew going into this. My concern was that the space was filthy and cluttered. NOT what was pictured on the site. They state that they can not predict what bed you will be in.. The space they were putting me into was 10 feet off the ground and had no safety rails in place. They state that pot is legal in Cali.. I know it is.. but is crack? I know the difference between a crack pipe and a pipe for weed. They stated that they don't have a safe. Well they do advertise that on the site. First impressions are everything.. You choose a particular space to stay in based on the pictures that they post on their site or in this case, Hotels.com. So upon arrival, I expected to see something similar to what I had seen on the site. They KNOW that it was totally not what they advertised.. The moment I walked in, the young woman that was checking us in could tell by the look on my face that I was shocked and that this was not what I expected. My point in writing this review is so that people understand that what you see is not always what you get... That was certainly the case on January 12th when I arrived at the Podshare. Clean it up!!!!…
It was great to stay for such a reasonable rate and be able to spend more on dining and visiting with friends. This is an inexpensive alternative place to stay; facilities were clean and comfortable; I found parking easy; I might very well stay there again on my next trip to LA
It was great! So easy, clean, quiet at night, great location, everything it had to be and a lot of what a 'hostel' could be. I'll be back. BTW, I'm a 58 yr old father of girls not yet of teen years, who's been in a few hostels in my day. This place was a 10-min walk to the beach, had free bikes and free parking, and the beds were comfy. If they were able to open it up to kids, I'd be back even sooner--but for an easy, worry-free stay, it can't be beat.
I loved this hostel in Venice. It had a perfect vibe for solo travelers, couples or friends traveling together. Great outdoor space with green grass, hammocks, cozy area, breakfast spots and even had a basket and volley area. Hostel was clean and had all the facilities it needed both kitchen and bathroom wise. Location was awesome, close to the canals, Abbot Kinney road and of course the beach. Only downside was that it was a bit too noisy at night with the bathroom and kitchen close to the sleeping area. Everyone did however respect the quit hours, which was awesome. Otherwise really an awesome place with friendly and helpfull staff.
Great stay for me! Quiet, clean, great access to DTLA, The Arts District, Little Tokyo, and Union Station. Comfortable beds, great guests to meet, good co-working areas, well maintained common areas, and it was a great value. Keep up the great work!
