I really loved the restrained style of the hotel and the perfect location on the beach in Venice. It was quiet, charming, and really unlike any other small hotel I've stayed in previously. All the staff were great, and special thanks to Kira, Sophia, Florie, and the gentleman (whose name I didn't get) for being so accommodating. They all make...

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The staff is really helpful and friendly. The rooms are nicely appointed. It's an old building, so there are some flaws - fairly noisy - but the people manage to make you feel very welcome. We will definitely return. Keep on keeping on, Rose.

Stayed here just before the LA Marathon and highly recommend. Its a place I likely passed 100s of times in the area but randomly decided to stay when trying to find something decently priced in Venice and proximate to Santa Monica. Clean rooms and friendly staff, just a few feet from the beach. Parking seems like a challenge but is...

I traveled to LA for business for 3 months and chose the Rose Hotel every time. I was attracted to the Rose because it was literally one half block walk to the beach and boardwalk. I would get up every morning to see the sunrise from the beach, go to my client site for 8 hours, then back to the...

My stay at the Rose Hotel was the most relaxing part of my trip. Florie and Eric took such good care of me right from the front steps! The housekeeping staff were so polite and amazingly quiet when I told them I'd like to sleep in later. And the croissants are fresh and flakey and the perfect way to start...

The Rose Hotel feels more like a hostel, not a hotel. The lobby area is very nice and the coffee great, but that's about it. I have stayed at several places around Venice and Santa Monica and this place feels like a total rip-of compaired to other simlar ones in the same price category (350 USD). Also we did not...

Dear M, Thanks very much for your review. I was greatly saddened to see that your experience at the Rose was so far below your expectations, that it compelled you to write "avoid if you can." I noticed that the reason that you didn't have the room you had booked was because we thought you wouldn't have minded being upgraded...

The Rose Hotel is without doubt one of the most pleasurable and interesting "hotel" experiences you can have in an increasingly corporate world. A real home away from home, it is tucked away next to the beach in Venice and feels like a secret hideaway, providing the perfect respite from the outside world. Everyone working at the hotel goes out...

I discovered The Rose Hotel through Remodelista and I'm SO GLAD that I did! The Rose is an oasis of calm and comfort with a modern, minimal, beachy aesthetic that is a perfect fit for my design sensibilities. Everything about this place -- from the morning croissant service and in-room massages to the edgy, oversized photography and painted wood floors...

The Rose is my favorite hotel in Los Angeles, and probably the whole world. Its delights are basic but crucial. The historic building is beautifully designed, the rooms are furnished simply but beautifully, and the staff is incredibly helpful but not in your face. The vibe is always calm, cool, and peaceful. In the morning there's French Press coffee waiting...

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
