My group and I loved staying at the Figueroa. Our experience was unlike any other when we have attended conventions. I am a jaded New Yorker, whose been fortunate enough to travel the world. The Figueroa hotel made my staff and me feel as though we were in an exotic land, not in the convention center vicinity. It is enchanting... More

Your 20 boxes were wrapped in Hermes wrapping paper and added glamour to our lobby as did your black Bentley convertible in our parking lot. So thrilled that you and your staff stayed with us and clearly enjoyed it. So come back...you looked as glamorous as the Bentley.. More

We stopped for a few nights in LA on our way to French Polyneisa for our honeymoon. We picked Figueroa hotel as it looks like it has a soul and boy we did right. This place is a gem and you can easily forget you are in downtown LA and think you are somewhere in the medina in Marrakesh. I... More

Marrakech..I think that is exactly the atmosphere we have attempted to create with some success. In Saturday's Wall Street Journal's magazine section is a terrific article about Bill Willis ( from Memphis ) and how he rescued the Moroccan craftmanship in the 1960s..I was there much earlier as a dishwasher..no money or I would have been operating a hotel there.... It's a destination within a destination. So close to Staples, LALIVE, Nokia and endless restaurants and entertainment. But when my sister and I stayed there in June, we didn't venture from The Fig to seek out the sights until about 11 when we realized we skipped dinner. (Thankfully, an ample breakfast is served all night at The Pantry, a block... More

God. All these accolades make me nervous. Not sure we are deserving.I am personally so selfeffacing in everything I do and have taught the staff to be the same. We don't want our guests to have too high expectations..instead to be pleasantly surprised and accept us for what we are..a tourist class hotel with a bit of flair. Clearly the... More

I stayed for almost a week last November for my LA vacation. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were so pleasant and accommodating to all my questions. I am returning again in November and did not even look for another place to stay. I am looking forward to staying there again.

Uno, the manager at the Figueroa Hotel is absolutely wonderful. You absolutely have to trust that he will come through with you and if you can, you will be in for the treat of a lifetime. Thank you. Frankly did not know that I was that great I am old now but in my young days at the Beverly Hilton I probably arranged more weddings than anyone in the world. Problem was that those same rooms had to be used for meetings..as a result a great deal of money had to be spent on decorations. Here... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An unexpected oasis amidst an urban metropolis, Hotel Figueroa is a timeless and enduring gem in downtown Los Angeles. Located just a stone's throw from L.A. Live, Staples Center, and the Los Angeles Convention Center, this beloved downtown LA hotel is a true classic, a place that embraces the multicultural history and old-school glamour of southern California, while still remaining friendly, genuine, and completely unpretentious. Hotel Figueroa is one of the most stunning and photogenic boutique hotels in downtown Los Angeles. Built in 1925, the building retains much of its original Spanish Mediterranean architecture and is accentuated by a dramatic decor with rich colors and intricate patterns. Elegant archways with glowing lanterns lead into the hotel lobby, resplendent with its coffered ceilings and ornately painted tiles. The rooms and suites, unique in their bold and colorful style offer the perfect respite from exploring Los Angeles. The city itself is right at the doorstep to Hotel Figueroa. Our L.A. boutique hotel is a gateway to all that is downtown Los Angeles, a burgeoning center of arts, culture, dining, and nightlife. Just across the street is L.A. Live, home to Nokia Theatre, Staples Center, and the Los Angeles Convention Center. The neighborhood is also abundant with restaurants, cafes, bars, lounges, and clubs. From Michelin-starred chefs and multicultural cuisine to whiskey bars and sultry speakeasies, it's no wonder that GQ magazine calls downtown Los Angeles "America's Next Great City." So whether you're heading downtown for business, pleasure or you simply want to enjoy the Lakers game-Hotel Figueroa promises a stay that has that authentic L.A. feel and is truly unforgettable. ... more   less
