stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. the entrance of the hotel is on the side in a small street - don't worry if your navigator gets you to the backstreet of this one, there is simply no other access by car. service and management was utterly friendly and forthcoming. looking out from a seafront view room, you'll get... After grinding through LA's abusive roadways for a day, my wife and I decided we would bed down somewhere in the Santa Monica-Venice Beach-Marina del Rey string of neighborhoods. The Cadillac Hotel is right on the Venice Beach Boardwalk, and since it matched our budget--$80-$120 per night--we decided to try it. The unassuming building blends in seamlessly with the surrounding... More

The street people of Venice are a large part of what makes this community interesting. While it was slightly shocking to see a rather unsavory-looking group hanging out in front of the hotel -- we had just left the Getty Center (a lovely place with no blade of grass out of place) -- Moses, the night clerk, assured us they... The hotel is clean and right on the beach. But, the beach is full of homeless bums. They are everywhere and I must say, I did not feel safe walking back from dinner. Maybe its the time of year I stayed but because of the situation outside the hotel, I will not stay there again.

I had stayed at the Cadillac several years before, and heard that they had renovated since our last stay. I couldn't really see the improvement on the queen room we stayed in. There were stains on the carpets, the window didn't work properly, and the bathroom wasn't very nice. Also, I have to echo the comments I have read by... More

Location was amazing, and for 400 for 3 nights you cant beat that, roof access was awesome to see the beach, staff was really friendly and rooms were clean and neat! Sure there was some stains on the floor but who cares the beds were comfy the atmosphere was great and we are excited to stay again!

Had pretty low expectations when booking this hotel but my room was great! It was nice and spacious and I had a beautiful view of the beach from my window. The guys at the desk were super helpful booking me a tour and telling me all the good places to go. I will definitely be back!! From 'the hot chick'... More

Very uncomfortable room, bad service, dirty, unsafe, Ripoff parking fee when you can park in the public lot next to the beach a lot cheaper. Overpriced. The room is very plain with a horrible excuse of a bed. even the homeless all around the place wouldn't stay in one of these rooms.

The service was great and the view from the roof is fantastic. The prices seemed high until we compared them with other hotels in the area in less perfect locations. I loved that i got the local feel of venice beach while staying in a nice put-together hotel. The art gallery in the lobby and lounge brings the artsy bohemian... More

You can see the ocean from some of the rooms! That's only positive to this facility that I saw. Its an old hotel which has undergone a few upgrade, not nearly enough. No air conditioning=no way to maintain a reasonable constant temperature, much less a comfortable temperature. The bathroom had upgraded fixtures but no space to appreciate them. A person... More

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
