The hotel looks nice from the lobby but the elevator is tiny and filthy, all the carpets in the hotel are stained and smell. The doors have huge gaps so you can hear everything and flies can easy find access to your room. I felt very unsafe and dirty staying here. I couldn't sleep at all. The room was tiny,...

Friendly staff, clean airy bright rooms, comfortable bed, beautiful view! Ask for the Charlie Chaplin room. Cool little bar, restaurant, and mini mart just outside your door.

Try to find a better price for a better location in Venice or Santa Monica. Anyone who says this place is expensive hasn't looked at the price of other beach hotels in the area (though prices in the winter are a better deal than the summer.) You walk out the door and you're on the Venice boardwalk, with nothing but...

I first stayed in 1996 for 5 days it wasn't as modern as it is now but great value for money. 2010 quite a bit more modern and a bit too expensive for what you get BUT you're right in the thick of Venice beach. Venice beach is where it's at and the Cadillac is a perfect location it's clean,...

If you are looking for a budget minded boutique hotel in the Santa Monica/Venice beach area. This is a good one. Its located right on the beachwalk. I think the rooms were just redone when we visiting in June 2011. It has an art deco feeling. The desk people are rather friendly. Aside the location, this hotel has one of...

My husband , daughter and I recently stayed at the Cadillac. We really enjoyed our stay. Venice Beach is quirky and interesting with some real characters around. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable and the staff were really helpful. Moses at the front desk was a real gem, nothing seemed to be a problem for him. With further developments...

I found this hotel online, listed as one in Santa Monica (which is actually a three-mile walk up the beach). It looked chic and updated in the review, so I booked here. The lobby is nice, but the elevator, hallways and rooms are not-so-much. The room I stayed in had red stains on the carpet (not blood, but maybe paint...

The hotel itself is clean and seems to be recently remodeled, but getting to it can be difficult. We booked this hotel through expedia without knowing the name so could not research it beforehand. We figured it was worth the chance as we were just staying one night before flying out of LAX. There is a small parking lot next...

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
