The town itself has very limited accommodations which range from a very cool bed & breakfast to this motel. It's a pretty basic place with average accommodation. Since the cars park in front of the rooms and the place is basically U-shaped it can get rather noise. The lawn and fire pit area is nice but adds to the overall noise. I'd prefer rooms with finished floor rather than wood that looks like it was just put down. As I said, it's basic but no longer a value really except it is less expensive than the alternatives. Stay is price and being in-town are your top priorities.
Really enjoyed our stay here. the place was well done, the COVID process was great, room was comfortable. The low cost was honestly a bonus since we really liked it! Really a diamond in the rough and Bell’s across the street was phenomenal.
We were in room 12 and upon entering, noticed that the floor was bare plywood with the exception of a cowhide nailed in the center of the room. Some of the hide had pulled away from the nails leaving an easy way to trip, not to mention the sharp points of the remains of the nails. There is a bench under the TV for laying things but no drawers or chairs in sight. We could not get the TV to work and it stumped two of the employees too. We could not figure out the thermostat for cooling. No microwave, coffee or even plastic-wrapped cups. The beds were comfortable enough and the shower worked. All of this for $199 per night
There are plenty of plusses for this property, but it's not for the picky traveler. It's funky, retro, and hipster hip. Note that the property HAS been renovated since many of these older reviews, so take any bad comments with that in mind. We stayed in 2 different rooms, the 2 Queen with a kitchen (room 8) that was snug, and the King suite (room 14) that was much bigger. It was nice to have a kitchen, although all we used was its very small fridge. The bathroom in 8 is TINY and has not been re-done. Room 14 had a larger bathroom, a bigger kitchen (full-sized fridge) a dining table, a record player, etc. The kitchens were not very well stocked, could have used more dishes and glasses, even mismatched would be fine. The beds were wonderful - super comfy. AC worked great. The common areas are darling, with a central firepit, lawns, picnic tables, games like horseshoes, and cornhole. Could use more lighting out front so you could enjoy the lawn area into the evening. There is a wine shop/pouring room on the property that's fun! Very close - walking distance to all the great restaurants etc. I did think that $240 a night for Sat/Sunday was high, but the place was packed. Price was much better for weeknights.…
While the room was cute and clean, the bathroom (to #8, at least), has clearly not been redone since the motel was acquired. It was tiny and dirty with gross old tile. Made me feel like I was showering in my college door. Truly too bad as the rest of the motel is great. Will not be back.
