I took my husband here as a birthday treat. More fool me!! The Guard room is shabby beyond words. I have seen better furniture at our local tip! It's cold and damp. The kitchen is a total joke. Rusty and dirty! In the tattered welcome book they respectfully ask that you leave the place as you find it expecting you...

We have just spent a great afternoon at Chillingham Castle, it was so interesting and not like your usual tour round a stately home but you have to remember Sir Humphrey bought the Castle when it was a total ruin. To read about the stories of the family, restoration work so far and all the unusual items ( even though...

My husband and I booked over night accommodation in the Guard Room on Friday 7 th April 2017. The place smelled of damp and the pillows were damp. The place was poorly heated by electric heaters on timers. One of the fires was plugged into a broken electric socket which was dangerous. There w as a basket of logs which...

I had a great time at chillingham castle. We went on the ghost tour and it started at 8pm and finishes about 10-10:30 it depends on the paranormal activity. My friends and i rented the coach house which was great for a party of people. It meant we were pretty much in the same room, although there were 3 seperate bedrooms,we all enjoyed the fact that we had...

What a fabulous couple of nights! The apartment was beautiful, not all matched and modern like a golf hotel but old, grand, and filled with antiques. We had so much space, a huge fire and the grandiose beauty of the rooms and the castle was the perfect backdrop to our wine. Everything was immaculately clean and comfortable. We are definitely...

Authentic and historical castle. Tremendous location in the heart of Northumberland, with several choices of apartment to accommodate ll requirements. Caution in that some apartments may be located in parts of the castle that requirement a level of mobility to reach them. You must bring your own food and drinks requirements, and cooking facilities in the rooms are provided. The...

We recently visited on a combined cattle & castle ticket. It was one of the hottest days in Northumberland and we didn't know what to expect. The lady at the reception in the Armoury was lovely and friendly. We bought the leaflet and the guide to the castle, as we like to read about our visits later. That was the...

The building has some interest and contains a small quantity of relevant items. However, very nearly all of the content of furniture and objects has been assembled from the sale rooms of the UK and has no connection whatever with the building. It is part stage dressing, part junk shop and almost entirely bogus. The 'torture chamber' is a particular...
