This is a great hotel for a family beach vacation. Unbeatable location. The beach is just steps from the hotel, there is a great park next door, tide pools to explore just a 1/2 mile down the beach. Restaurants and shops within walking distance. La Jolla cove, the SD Zoo, Balboa park all close by.

La Jolla Shores is a not so hidden gem in the San Diego area. The location is obviously spectacular - right on the beach and the pool and hot tubs are very relaxing. While the rooms are quite minimalistic, the place is very comfortable and has everything you could need with a ready smile from every employee.

Stayed at the La Jolla Shores while attending a downtown conference, for which rooms were sold out. One of the best "sold out experiences I have ever had. Vs. the typical conventioon hotel with 1000 +rooms, the Shores Hotel is human size (200 rooms?) right on the ocean.

The location is top notch. Right on the ocean front with a really nice beach. We stayed an entire week. Some good places to eat a short walk away. There was construction that was loud when we were there during the day which was beyond the hotels control. Great heated pool. The kids loved it. The parking garage was nice...

Stayed here for a family reunion. Great location for everyone to do their own thing - walk to breakfast, play on the beach, kayak/skim board/scuba, playground, etc. But the rooms are terribly run down, carpet was filthy, walls were paper thin, construction going on around the property meant beeping and pounding started early in the morning. I feel like their...

Hotel is in the perfect location, right on the beach where sunsets are spectacular. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food at the restaurants on property is some of the best in San Diego. I highly recommend making a reservation at the Marine Room as well as the Shores. If you like mussels you must try the Shores mussels....

Beautiful property that needs an update. Great food in the restaurants but beware of the construction noise if you get a street side room. It's really disruptive. Hot tub was occupied our entire stay by rude young men that didn't allow waiting guests a turn.

As other people mentioned there is construction going on the east and south sides of the hotel. Fortunately we had an ocean view room and we didn't hear the construction. We booked using points and purposely selected this hotel for the kitchenette room since we were traveling with a 1 year old. We were surprised to see we didn't get...

Very noisy street drainage construction beginning at 0700 until dark. Also noisy neighbors coming and going until the early morning hours. The 1600 check-in time seems quite late and I was not permitted my previously requested early check-in at 1400 which caused us to be late for a wedding function in late afternoon.

Customer service is terrible as well as the food. Our waitress was nice but the service was slow and the rest of the staff was unfriendly and unprofessional. I accidentally left my parking ticket on our table so I could get it validated. Upon returning to retrieve it had been thrown away but was advised to see the front desk...
