not a great value, very generic suite for the price. staff is great. room was noisy due to the thin floors and heavy hoofed folks upstairs. suite was plain, nothing special. great location near water and many cafes and restaurants.

Elegant hotel, wonderful staff, a little complaint no drawers in closet. Easy walk after dinner to beach to watch the seals on the beach. Good transport links around. Would stay here again, maybe not not in room 511 to near the lift.

We love love LOVE this hotel location and the pictures of the hotel but in both rooms, we found mold. If they can address that problem and fix it, then we would highly recommend it. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is expensive, but so are most places in La Jolla.

We booked through the hotel's website and used the websites $50 voucher and parking. I had a 3yr old and decided to book a suite with a kitchenette. THOSE are the best because they all have hardwood floors. (All other suites have carpets and I don't really like carpets cuz I dont' feel that they are clean). Check in was...

Terrific, refreshing place in this day of sterile, modern facilities. The Grande Colonial is a superb hotel with "grand" charm. My wife and I were looking for a location with character, and we found it in the Grande Colonial. The only downside was that our stay was only one night. We will return if the opportunity arises.

Overall a great place for the rates in La Jolla. However, do not expect luxurious accommodations. It looks like they've invested more in updating the common area than the rooms. Our bathroom needed a complete remodel and the room could use an aesthetic updating. Also the television was oddly positioned at a heigh lower than that of the bed.
