I've often camped at the Kern and stayed at McNally's which is average but this B&B was an absolute treat - especially after a very long 17 hour hike on Mt Whitney. My kids and I really enjoyed the comforts of the room and the geniune quality service provided by Kathleen. Kathleen's breakfast was absolutely amazing. I think my 11...

My husband and I ended up at The Whispering Pines on a surprise vacation - my mother sent us there as well as arranging a rafting trip for us. It was a wonderful surprise! The room was large, with a working fireplace, and a bathroom that featured both a shower and a bath. We also had a large balcony, and...

We had a great room adjacent to the pool area with a large deck overlooking the Kern River. This is a lodge, not a resort property, but the room was clean and spacious enough. It was a great stop-off and a restful place to stay that was close enough to town to be convenient but also far enough away to...

Whispering Pines staff clearly loves what they do. This made for a memorable stay. Our family felt at home. An absolutely delicious breakfast every morning! My girls felt like they were at Grandma's restaurant back in upstate New York. The location was perfect for us. From our private balcony we enjoyed the tourist rafting. Hiking trails at just a few...

We stayed in room 116. Positive: very friendly staff, nice view, big cabin with large deck; that is about it. Negatives: bedroom had a terrible smell of BO. We had to go buy candles to try and get rid of the smell. Bed was hard as a rock Toilet did not work right, clogged 90% of the time. No Internet...

Quaint property. Owner is often onsite. Room was so dusty last time that I had an asthma attack. The breakfasts are yummy, but are not served early enough for most business travelers (8 to 12).

We have stayed at the Whispering Pines for the last several years during the Whiskey Flats Days festival, always traveling with a large group (15-20), and love it! Using the big suite on the second floor allows us to cook dinner and enjoy hanging out on the large deck. While it's going on you can hear the loudspeakers at the...

We stayed at the Lodge as part of a trip round CA, just as a stopover, but we wish we'd stayed there a bit longer as it was away from the main tourist places, v peaceful and laid back. The hosts were very friendly, the room was OK with the bonus of the pool which was welcome in summer, and...
