We chose this establishment for its proximity to Joshua Tree National Park. I read the reviews and looked at the photos before booking. We thought it would be nostalgic to stay in an original motor Inn. Now the review. It will be lengthy and fair. Upon check in we were greeted by a very friendly young lady at the front...

Thank you for your comments. We are glad that you appreciated our location, our cheerful staff, the courtyard and the common areas. We are sorry for the issues you mentioned and we will certainly give it our immediate attention. We are sorry for the parking lot noise. That's why we state that this suite is close to the lot on...

My husband and I stayed 4 nights in one of the suites. We loved the place and would recommend it to someone looking for a quite place to stay with a funky & welcoming atmosphere. Our suite was spacious with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and sitting room. We liked that it was different and unique and the staff was friendly....

Right outside of Joshua Tree park. A great place to stay if you want a rustic place with character and history. Nothing fancy (blinds were dusty). But the bed/bath were clean and pleasant. Lots of 60's artifacts and hippy chic -- particularly the lovely flowered bathroom tiles in our room (#10). Desk hours are VERY limited -- be sure to...

We're just wrapping up a two night stay at the Joshua Tree Inn. We've had a great time going to the national park, which is a real wonder. That said, as someone said in another review, they don't make classic style Hacienda hotel anymore. Also, we're music fans and thus place screams music history. This is the place that Gram...

We were expecting a funky hotel in the desert instead got a dingy room that was poorly renovated (huge gaps around the walk out doors that took several tries to lock and dirty windows that I was able to write "wash me" on). The yard was well maintained but the patio private patio was an eyesore. Heater was noisy and...

Thank you for your comments. We are currently renovating the electrical system, re-tiling the pool, re-paving the parking lot and replacing the roof tiles. This has caused dust on windows and debris in some of our private patios. We are very sorry that this maintenance has impacted your stay. We will be finished soon, and we hope that you will...

This is not the Hilton. The room was small, the sink was slow to drain and the front desk is only occupied from 3PM to 8PM. If these things would bother you then stay elsewhere, but if you're like me and my wife who value character over amenities, then check this place out. The Joshua Tree Inn has a story...

They don't make motels like this any more... and more's the pity. A place of great character on the edge of a beautiful national park, invested with a history all of its own. Okay, so the rooms are a little basic, but they are still comfortable, the staff are great and the outside area – complete with pool area, water...

We have travelled all over the world and like a bit of funk to spice things up but the JT Inn leaves a lot to be desired. We stayed for 3 nights in Rocky Vista - four of us. Positives - the place is spacy and the furnishings are generally comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed if you want to...

We are glad that you found our accommodations comfortable and our location to be convenient. Rocky Vista is a vacation house on a private acre within easy walking distance to the inn. Everything in that house is new and super clean, so we are confused by your reference to "funkiness". I guess you have your own definition. In response to...

Joshua Tree Inn is a 66-year-old desert property with an interesting connection to country rock songwriter Gram Parsons. He escaped the LA music scene with getaways to the inn. It's where he died of a morphine overdose in 1972. The revered musician is memoralized with posters and memorabilia in the lobby, and with a guitar sculpture outside Room 8, where...

Thank you for your comments. We are glad that you appreciate the cultural history and that you understand how nice it would be in warmer weather to enjoy the pool, the gardens and the private patios. We are also pleased that you enjoyed the community room and coffee, tea and granola bars :) The Spanish colonial architecture (1949) protects the...

I spend a lot of time in corporate hotels and I wanted to get away to Joshua Tree with the family. As a last minute Thanksgiving trip, we packed up the bags and headed to California. I wanted to stay somewhere that wasn't a corporate hotel but was comfortable and had the charm of a family place. This fit the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Joshua Tree Inn, built in 1950, is a Hacienda Style inn conveniently located just six miles from the grandeur of Joshua Tree National Park. The Inn has long been known for the warmth, charm, and comfortable lodging it provides for guests visiting California's extraordinary Mojave Desert. The Inn is laid out in a square horseshoe that provides privacy for all of our guests. All of our eleven rooms are on ground level, facing our desert courtyard and large pool. Our decor is eccentrically eclectic. The Inn is the site of the legendary Gram Parsons Room, where the beloved and respected musician/songwriter spent his last hours. Room 8 still offers a quintessential "Cosmic American Experience" to fans of the father of Alt-country rock. On the peach colored wall hangs the same mirror and picture that hung in the room back in 1973. The Joshua Tree Inn features a large swimming pool, as well as our peaceful zen courtyard & koi pond, plus dining room access & gift shop. We also provide complimentary coffee, tea, & morning snacks for our guests. All of our charming rooms include: Private Patios ... more   less
