This is an older building, but don't judge the book by the cover. The room was clean and comfortable and the AC worked great. There is a large patio/garden area behind the rooms that you are welcome to use. My wife and I got a pizza and sat outside in the evening air with a glass of wine....magical with the light display the owner has set up. The owner is a kind, sweet man. Could not recommend this place more highly. Recommend you hike the Nature Trail in Joshua Tree National Park.
I booked this place ahead of time for one night, April 24 through 25. They have 7 days cancellation policy. They canceled on me 4 days (!!) before the trip, when there were no more hotels available in the area. Apparently, because they found customers that will pay more for the room. Do not EVER book anything with this place!!
Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at Safari Motel! Must call to get a rare room with two beds. The location is excellent. Since it’s on the main road in town, we brought a small white noise machine to ensure a quiet night. The room was clean, the beds comfortable. Walkable to shops, restaurants, and the in-town Joshua Tree NP visitors center.
This is a good, old-fashioned, roadside motel just outside the park entrance road. Things I liked about it: plenty of space to put your stuff. Cool tiled shower, which worked fine. Fairly comfy bed. Super nice fluffy towels. You can see cool mountains from the front door. Extra special bonus: You will want to be high when you tour the back area; but if you're not , no worries, you'll feel kind of high anyway. I'll leave it at that, except to say try to see it first in the late evening or at night.
We wanted an overnight stop in Joshua Tree so that we could go stargazing in the national park in the evening and then progress on our road trip through the park the next day and the Safari Motor Inn was perfect for what we were looking for. The Inn is located right on Twentynine Palms Highway, so easy to locate and plenty parking outside of the rooms. Check in was easy and friendly and our room was as expected, basic, but clean, quiet and had all of the amenities that we required. Bed, table/chairs, shower, fridge, microwave, TV and a rear door to a garden area and the pool. It is less than a five minute walk to the Joshua Tree national park visitors centre for anything that you may require there, such as passes and depending upon how far you wish to go, a choice of good bars, eating places and general stores all within 5 to 10 minutes walk. We enjoyed a good nights sleep, then the next morning simply popped the key in the box outside reception and we were back on our road trip. Very happy with our experience at the Safari Motor Inn.…
