Stayed here as I was looking for a inexpensive place near LAX as I was picking someone up there early in the AM. This fit the bill, as well as the fact it accepted an"older American" as a guest, something many hostel in LA will not do. Booking the room was challenging as their way of booking seems a bit...

Travelling through the USA you come by so many different hostels, by which the Surf City Hostel was the best of all of them. It is not a huge hostel, as some, but it has charme and you really get to know the people staying with you. I stayed over Christmas and the people there became good friends of mine....

The hostel is in a busy place at night, with a not very good energy. But the people were nice to me. The breakfast is simple and unfortunately you cant rely on putting your food in the refrigerator. I kept a bread and cream chease and in less than 24 hours they were gone and nobody knew anything. The place...

My experience of Surf City Hostel has always been a good one. Over the years having travelled from New York to Los Angeles I was always warmly received by the manager a very nice lady from France. In addition the atmosphere was always casual and relaxed and she made it seem like a home away from home. Ive had the...

I did not look into the hostel much when I booked it, so it was a surprising and very welcome surprise to see it was almost ON the beach. The beach at Hermosa is full of volleyball nets and surfers, and the neighbourhood is very pretty and fun. The hostel is sandwiched in between two cafés on Hermosa Pier, giving...

Worst hostel I"ve ever stayed in. Told I'd lose not just my deposit but the entire amount of the stay, I came in around 9 pm, and was told to pay for parking in the lot behind the hostel, then park many blocks away for free, after hauling my suitcase up the steep steps. Everyone was speaking French and I...

Perfect hostel for young people travelling! A good vibe with friendly people and an amazing location. A lot to do as well. Quite out of the way of Hollywood and such but ubers are so cheap in LA it's not a big deal. Loved my stay here and will definitely be returning

i have stayed in hostels earlier, so this is as good as a hostel gets. i was in a private room (it did NOT have a ensuite shower or toilet), those are shared. the room was small and had a table fab, but for a single traveller or couple is sufficient. the TV room can accommodate 8-10 people, the toilet...

First, I will write the good things. 1. Great location right on the main party strip of Pier Ave and Hermosa Beach. 2. The French woman owner is polite, has made upgrades and keeps tabs on the rooms. The rooms and bathrooms are now cleaned daily. The owner even helps in the cleaning. The wifi Internet works good and the free...
