Hotel Charlotte is the quintessential boutique hotel you would expect to find in the southern end of California’s Gold Country. It was easy to find right off Highway 120 and smack dab in the middle of Groveland’s cute historic downtown Main Street. Some previous reviewers commented on Highway noise but with a posted speed limit of 25 MPH and narrow frontage, I didn’t find the traffic to be an issue. Upon arrival I was greeted by Fin, the owner, who was very friendly, upbeat and super helpful orienting me on the hotel’s amenities, dining options and nearby restaurants and nighttime activities. I stayed in Room 11 which was a second floor Single King and although it was an intimately sized room, it had a full size walk in shower which I wanted instead of a claw foot tub. Bathroom amenities were plentiful with soaps and creams in refillable bottles, minimizing landfill waste and I was pleased to find that the towels were soft and luxurious. The in-room air conditioning was super quiet and barely audible which was a plus compared to many other hotels with noisy wall units. I couldn’t hear any outside noise through the windows so a quiet’s nice rest was not a problem. The dining room and bar feature a seasonal menu with various specials and bespoke signature cocktails at the bar. I had an old fashion and it was excellent. The wine list is somewhat limited but featured local wines of multiple varietals ample enough to satisfy most palates. I found the locally sourced touches to be part of the overall charm of the historic hotel. The hotel features an outdoor beer garden in the back that is sure to satisfy those looking for an outdoor drinking experience with great sunset views and a chance to mingle with other hotel guests. If you are looking for a cute place to stay on your way to or from Yosemite and don’t want to stay in a typical rack em and stack em motor lodge, then Hotel Charlotte is definitely worth a look.

Stayed here whilst visiting Yosemite. Room was well decorated and equipped, with a very comfortable bed. The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The fridge for guest use in the foyer was a God send and the cool bags great value. Highly recommend.

A wonderful place on the way to Yosemite! Welcomed by lovely people in a very quaint hotel that had small but wonderfully decorated rooms with the absolute best sheets on our two-week stay in the US! Also great food in the hotels' restaurant! Thanks for your hospitality!

Had a brilliant stay in this wild, whacky & wonderful hotel. Everything was perfect, the owner has a passion for making your stay the best it could possibly be. Friends recommended it to us and it didn’t disappoint. Don’t hesitate your stay will be as good as ours, repeat customers were checking in from over the decades it’s been open. Thanks for making our stay a great one that we will remember ❤️ Debbie & Peter Nicholls

We stayed at Hotel Charlotte for one night after visiting Yosemite. The hotel itself was really charming, with antique furniture and a bit of an 'old western' vibe. When we arrived, we were greeted the the owner, who was incredibly friendly, who gave us our keys and let us settle into the room. The room itself was beautiful, and the bathroom had a large bathtub, which was a nice touch, and appreciated after spending several days in tents. We were starving when we first arrived, so after we arrived, the first thing we did was to get dinner. The hotel had a nice dining area out back with lighting and outdoor heating lamps. The food was a little pricey, but was really good, and came with generous portions which more than made up for it. Given how hungry we were, it was worth every penny. We had arrived for dinner early, but the outdoor heating lamps weren't turned on, but the owner came by and turned ours on just for us, and our 3 year old son was super excited about the fire. After dinner, when we had returned to our room, the owner knocked on our door and handed us the toys our son had left behind on the table during dinner, which was a small touch but also greatly appreciated. Over all, it was a great stay, and would definitely stay here again before/after my next trip to Yosemite.

Great hotel with the little extra of good and personal service. They are thinking ahead of your arrival if it is late. Parking in the back yard included. A cozy place and cheaper than hotels closer to Yosemite.

A wonderful little place to stay near Yosemite. So quaint and comfortable. Felt more like home than a hotel. Thank you for having us! We stayed in room #9 for two nights. Dinner and drinks from the tavern on the first floor were delicious. Only 30 min to the park entrance (1 hour to the valley).

Myself and my wife stayed here due to its location to get into Yosemite park. Couldn’t of picked a better place, comfortable beds, spacious rooms, very clean and provide muffins and good coffee for the morning. Outside areas are also great, a really nice balcony overlooking the Main Street so you can just watch the world to by, out the back is a great seating area with heaters and games. Not much more to say other than if you are thinking of booking…just book it!

We had to book somewhere out of the park for our 2 day visit and we chose Hotel Charlotte for its’ location. It is a charming guesthouse with great staff who are super helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant our first night which was great, with unpretentious dishes and friendly service. The hotel itself has sweet touches like free breakfast muffins as most of us leave early to start hiking and free coffee and fruit set up in the lounge. The rooms let the hotel down I think. Whilst I understand the need to make a stay authentic, the rooms could do with a maintenance touch up. The air conditioning unit was leaking into my daughters bed which made it and the room a little damp. We didn’t mention this at the time as we were up and out early and we moved the bed. The rooms are well stocked with clean fluffy towels and toiletries unlike some hotels we’ve stayed in recently.
