We spent three wonderful nights here, our room had a large patio that had a view that literally stretch as far as the eye can see and not another house in view. We were looked after from the moment we arrived, a lovely room that was so homely with all the comforts of home. The breakfast certainly sets you up...

Penn Blanco is definitely set in a remote area. We were getting a little anxious on the drive there on long winding road. It's near Coulterville but trust me, there's not much there other than history. The drive to Groveland for dinner is about 20 minutes one way through farm land and best traveled before dark. The Inn ( remember...

It took us more than an hour of driving the twistiest road to reach this beyond remote place not to mention dirt road of more than a mile from the main road. No neighbors, no cell service. Bare parking lot except the three big black dogs barking, scratching and jumping on our rental car!!! It felt like a scene in...

We received a very warm welcome from Margi and Wolfgang. The room was lovely and extremely well stocked with unexpected extras! Breakfast was excellent and gave us an opportunity to chat to the other guests staying at the lodge. Margi was a great host giving us lots if useful advice!

We booked 4 nights at the Penon Blanco and would have loved to stay longer. The breakfast was delicious and Margi and Wolfgang made sure to take any special food needs into the menu. I am lactose intolerant and mostly gluten free. I did not ask them to but they made sure that I was able to eat with the...

My family and I stayed at Penon Blanco while visiting Yosemite earlier this month and we all agree that it was a perfect decision for us. We stayed in the Lookout Room which was a good fit for my husband, 10yr old son and myself. My son said that this was his favorite place during the entire trip! The food...

Yes, this remote little place is different. It is quaint and I would consider it a real bed and breakfast. A bit old-fashioned but everything is done with a theme in mind and a very loving hand. I had the best night sleep there - the bed was great! The breakfast table is also beautifully set. I did not mid...

Valid boast of amazing views, but we failed to enjoy. The hosts were somewhat reluctant, the facilities tired and old, eg tiny TV screen. Decor was dark and twee. The acclaimed breakfast was a major disappointment. Very expensive for the experience.

This place was not easy to get to! It's certainly remote, miles up a windy road near a tiny town. If you're looking for a remote getaway, you've found it. We were visiting Yosemite, which is about an hour away down the John Muir highway (more windy roads). Quirky decor and the top room has a beautiful view of Lake...
