I'm an Espire Elite member of IHG. I'm used to the luxury in the Middle East so I was shocked how basic this hotel is. The rooms are very basic, no basic room amenities and the room was very noisy. I would like to share with you my experience staying at this hotel, which is not great. 1. The room was very noisy and whenever the next room opens the hot water, I can hear a very loud sound from the boiler. I woke up at 5am on three days and couldn't go back to sleep and one night we couldn't sleep until 2am because the next door guests were having a late shower. 2. No amenities in the room. Not even the basic things. 3. The furniture in the rooms is old and the rooms need to be renovated. 4. The staff are not very friendly. My wife asked for milk at the breakfast so they gave her a tiny pot and when she asked for more milk, the waitress told her "you should have said from the beginning that you need a lot of milk". Another day on the breakfast, there was no toast or croissant so we asked for refill. We were told that the person responsible for refilling the buffet is on his coffee break. We were shocked when we heard that. 5. I asked for late check out for one room until 5pm. My request was rejected and they said the latest they can offer was 2pm. After a short argument, they agreed to extend it until 3pm.

On the hotel side - on arrival the receptionist made us feel as though we were not really welcome - we had arrived an hour earlier than the 2pm check in - our booking had been made and paid for months before through a travel agent in New Zealand. On checking - our room was ready - we completed registration and were duly given our key cards. Directed to lifts - doors close - keys not activated so start process over again - back in queue - tired and frustrated. Second attempt made it to room. Great room - happy. Second night woken by a call at 9PM on the phone in room - Receptionist by the name of Lizette calling to say that our booking had not been paid for and it exceeded our credit card authoristion of US$500. iNFORMED THAT WE HAD UNTIL 1PM THE FOLLOWING DAY TO SORT IT... Got out of bed - called husband on mobile,he was downstairs playing poker. He comes up to the room. We called our Travel Agent in N.Z , who then called the Wholesaler, who then called Los Angeles- the Crown Plaza Commerce Casino. HELLO!!!!! Turns out that the incompetent receptionist that had checked us in had pressed a delete button on the keyboard and wiped the prepayment method from our guest history. No Apology from hotel but email from N.Z informing us that all was OK and we could return to bed and continue our holiday. Next morning asked to see the manager making an appointment for 6pm that evening. Michael, the manager - did meet and offered a refund for the first night - one of four that we had paid for - and apologised, accepting that the mistake and the way it was handled was appalling and was the fault of hotel staff. He asked for all the details of our travel agent and wholesaler which we supplied so that a credit for one nights accommodation could be processed. We departed on the 5th December for N.Z and to date - no credit has been recieved by the wholesaler, Infinity, or the Flight Centre. Guess this proves that staff are only as good as their manager - and Michael, why you would further insult us by offering something that you obviously had no intention of honouring says a lot about you and why you work where you do!!! The Casino - no slot machines, all card games, and non smoking - on the other hand was great - not hard to work how the hotel survives !!!

Commerce is the busiest poker club in the LA area. It has a huge poker room that’s always jam packed. Another room with table games, mostly wild Baccarat players hitting the Dragon. The bar can be lively and I believe there’s a dance floor. I come for poker. 2-4 all the way up, Staff and dealers are friendly. Sometimes the regular poker players can be a nuisance, but don’t let that keep you away. I believe the hotel is a class act, very reliable and decent. Citadel Shopping outlets a short wLk away Great deals Food in poker room is decent There’s a great taco cart in the Baccarat room and the same Carr sells a tasty filling Macao soup.

Check in took longer time as just one receptionist was available. Room was nice, clean, and spacious. Employees were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Internet speed was ok. The only thing I didn’t like is the parking as it is far from hotel building.

We always like staying here before a cruise. A lot of good restaurants close by. Friendly, efficient staff. Shuttle driver took just us to the ship without waiting for more people. It is only a few minutes away & we have walked to the ship before. As soon as we got off the ship the shuttle was waiting. I love that!! We always get the Park & Sail with covered parking. We were upgraded to a gigantic room with views of the harbor. We got two free drinks from a friendly bartender.
