Nice hotel with free parking. The room was spacious, clean and had a very comfortable bed. Very friendly staff. Good location. No breakfast but a complimentary bag with a croissant, a small bottle of water and fruit. Free coffee in the lobby.

I had a terrible experience here. I booked through Wells Fargo and never got a confirmation email or any correspondence. I showed up and they told me I booked for the night before. I asked if they could do anything for me and they wouldn’t. I called Wells Fargo and all they could do was ask the hotel for a refund or to rebook me for the correct night, which they refused to do. At the very least, they should have called me the night before when I was a “no show.” The guy at the front desk told me I could book another room for $260. I refused and went to Carmel Resort Inn which was a blessing in disguise. The rooms there are huge! It’s like staying in your own private cabin with your own driveway, free parking, outdoor fire pit, indoor fireplace, microwave and fridge. Save yourself and go save $100 by booking at Carmel Resort Inn.

Hotel is overpriced. Next time I would spend the extra money to stay elsewhere. Carmel is already very expensive but it wasn’t worth the value at the Carmel Bay View Inn. Rooms look better in online photos. In reality our room was pretty out dated. I would not consider this a boutique hotel. Although the room was clean it had a strange smell, possibly from cigarettes or pet odors?? The balcony view was excellent. I suppose that is what we paid for. Staff at check in was very friendly, but other management and GM were just average and not very helpful. Possibly too short staffed?? BEWARE if booking an upper floor ocean view room with fireplace and balcony. These rooms are only accessible by elevator. No stair access to these upper floor rooms. The elevator was broken for our entire three night stay. Due to the broken elevator, the only way to access the rest of the property, lobby, swimming pool etc is by walking ( or driving) around the block. Yes around the block (and uphill)! This is not described on the hotel website and is a huge inconvenience! Will not stay here again. Poor communication and management. Such a bummer!

For Carmel, the price was reasonable for 3 nights at $940. Our room, 508, was on the top floor and had a great view of the bay. Glad there was an elevator as the stairs are quite steep. The room was nice with a fireplace in one corner. Bed was comfortable and wifi was good. Fairly large fridge, but no microwave. Be advised there is no AC, but we travel with a fan and the weather was pleasant during our stay. The only cons during our visit: We tried to check in at 2:45 and even though the room was ready, they have a policy of not letting you check in until exactly 3:00 pm. So we sat and waited the 15 minutes. The "breakfast" was a paper bag with a tiny bottle of water, a green banana and a very plain croissant. Plus, the "breakfast" was not available until 8:00 am? But overall, a good value for Carmel and we would stay here again. Office staff was very nice.

The location--at the center of town--is perfect, the service is friendly, kind and efficient and the prices can't be beat. There aren't frills here, but the bathrooms are clean and stylish and really the place has everything you need (including tea and coffee all day long near the Front Desk and simple, free bag breakfasts). In a town filled with overpriced or pretentious hotels charging three times as much--I've stayed in many over the past 32 years--this is a modest and welcoming gem. I've so loved the times I've stayed here.

We booked this place hoping it would be one of the many, very smart independent motels you find throughout CA. Check in was painless and easy. We got a great patio as we had paid for a sea view but it did mean we were around the side of the hotel. The patio doors were surprisingly insecure - held by a small bolt. The room itself was surprisingly small (two double beds), particularly with the fireplace in one corner. The lack of a desk was a shame and we had hoped the room would be smarter/have more character. The bathroom was also relatively small. The beds were very comfortable. Remarkably when we got ready for bed we discovered that the room has no AC - not even a fan! We called reception and they said all the free-standing fans had been given out for the night. We managed to get one our second night but couldn't believe the lack of AC in California - the hotel is older but not so old as to not offer this. The pool was well located and of a good size. However, having been advertised as heated to 80 degrees I would say it was a lot colder. The pool hours (9am-7pm) were annoyingly restrictive, but not uncommon for outdoor pools and explained by the fact that some hotel rooms were right outside it! Breakfast was very poor - a grab and go bag with water, a piece of fruit and an unappetising, dry pastry - which forced us to go elsewhere. Overall given the range of choice and competition in Carmel, and the reasonably high room rate, we were left disappointed. The hotel lacked the character we had hoped for and needs to up its game where AC and breakfast are concerned. We would look to stay somewhere else if we returned to Carmel.

I typically stay in Hampton Inns. This motel is not at their standard. No A/C and very musty. In the summer you will need the windows open. This is a motel… your door and windows face the parking lot. Good location however a lot of street noise. People working there were polite. But have to question the legitimacy of so many 5 star reviews… if you have allergies and like quiet sleep you will be very disappointed.

This hotel is a few blocks from the "main drag" in Carmel, and two doors down from a great little market. Location, location, location. I had a suite with a balcony with an ocean view. The rooms have been renovated -- the only shortcoming is the lack of A/C, which is common in Carmel and was not an issue during my stay in July. The king bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was both large and well-lit. The price for the size and amenities was attractive. I managed to catch my finger in a shower door. Mike at the front desk greeted me with sympathy, a sewing kit (for a needle), rubbing alcohol (to sterilize it). All of the staff I met were friendly. I will definitely return.

The Inn is conveniently located for wondering around Carmel. It's an older hotel, but our room was clean and comfortable. Our room overlooked the pool, but as promised when we checked in, it wasn't noisy.

It was in the best location in Carmel— and we happened on it by chance. Only a one night stay— very reasonable priced and the cleanest hotel I have been in— in years!!!! The bathroom shined- the chrome was super clean in the shower— it may be an older hotel, but these housekeepers keep this place shining. Well kept grounds - and very friendly staff -the view from the fifth floor was beautiful.
