My husband and I stayed here for three days/ two nights this week. We had been diving on the coast and wanted a couple of days in the forest/ mountains to see wildlife.

When we arrived we knew we had made a mistake. When I asked if any sloths were seen in the area I got laughed

This was one of my favorite places that we stayed at during our trip to CR.
We had the first bungalow close to the restaurant with covered porch and hammock. This was great to sit and watch the wildlife.
The restaurant had excellent food and I found the staff to be very kind an

Had to share bed (Kingsize bed) with my daughter, after a while we got (at least) two sheets / quilts so we didnt have to share that.
At first we had no warm water in the bath-room the staff solved that, as well,

The property is beautiful with a lot of wildlife! We saw both Capuchin and Howler Monkeys, coati and aguti onsite which was fun. The rooms are nice but the beds are very uncomfortable with the worst pillows ever. The deck was great but ours wasn't covered so we couldn't use it

This is an excellent place to immerse yourself in Costa Rican wildlife. Go for a swim in their beautiful pool, and watch the monkeys swing through the trees. While eating breakfast, watch the beautiful blue birds attempt to steal your breakfast, while a parade of coatis stroll by

My husband and I had lunch there one day while we were on our excursion. I am trying to figure what type of soup they served us that day? It was amazing and I would love to try and make it back home!!!
I am wondering if it is a long drive to the volcano tenorio park entrance if we chose to go on our own without a tour? I am assuming there are hiking trails there. Also, as vegetarians would we find several dishes that we could eat at the restaurant? Thank you.
I don’t think the volcano park entrance is within walking distance. You can probably get the hotel to shuttle you there. Sorry, I was interested in the stuffed shrimp dish and overlooked the vegetarian offerings.

I understand the resort is very hilly and i don't have a problem with this. However i wonder if there is a category of room closer to the lodge that might involve somewhat less steep hill walking?
They do have some rooms closer to the lodge a short walk away, but there is some moderate elevation to be walked even with these. It is a wonderful resort, with an exceptional staff, so if you can manage the walk, you will have a great relaxing time.

Are your pools open? Do you expect all of the recent work to be completed before December 2017? What type of mattressess do you have? I am looking for firm mattress due to back issues. Thanks.
"This place is located on a mountain. Getting to many bungalows can be a long, steep walk."
"The higher the room numbers (400s-500s), the higher you are on the hill and steeper it is. However, the views are awesome from the top."
"All villas are wonderful, can't go wrong with any choice."
"Go for the bungalow not the junior suites, the junior suites are just too high up and there is never transport around."
"All rooms are a decent uphill walk! They're spacious cabinas with decks and porches."
