This hotel is a wee gem, older property, with a hint of whimsy. It is walking distance to pizza, fish n chips pub, mexican food or sushi. It's just a few blocks from Warner Bros studios main gate. It's a block away from the 134 freeway and has a gas station on the corner. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the property was clean in a good neighborhood. The pool is open - small, but open. I did not use because I didn't know it was open so had no swimsuit. Their is one wee thing - in the morning, I could hear the neighbors in the room next door as they were up bright and early, and I, was not. If you enjoy the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, you would like this motel.
I would give this place 5 stars and then some but when you stay in a hotel to mostly get a decent-good night sleep so you don't have to leave your house at 5am to get to Universal by opening you expect a decent quality bed mattress. As soon as I put my disabled daughter on the bed to watch some tv after long drive getting there she sank some as it was a very very old mattress with sink holes in it. And my daughter is only 70lbs. It was a king bed so plenty of space to try to reposition her better but it was hard to find. Then when I put her on the bed to go to sleep in a different spot of bed same thing but even worse. The other side wasn't as bad but then I slept on the bad side which is better than her, but man we didn't sleep well at all because the bed was sagging so bad and just very uncomfortable. We can sleep on hard, soft, medium beds as we travel a lot especially before COVID and so used to a variety of beds but never came across one as bad as this one. I really hope they fix the bed in #117 because we will definitely be back as its a cute little hotel/motel, exterior corridors - important to us for convenience, very clean. For the most part they are following COVID precautions guidelines but staff in the office with the door closed will be in there with no mask on letting their germs out so when you walk in, you do have the potential of coming in contact with their germs that have lingered in the air. I get it, you don't want to wear a mask when no one else is in there but indoors with no ventilation germs (aerosols) linger in the air for hours. The rooms have a/c and fan but they don't really work throughout the room just in the small area in front of them so just be warned there ventilation across the rooms like you find in a lot of hotels/motels. Staff very nice. And very clean property inside and out. Cute place. And pretty pricey for a motel so I am guessing the location is what you are paying the extra price for. …
I’m always happy to come home to The Tangerine for it’s friendly professional staff, comfy beds, great location, heated pool and awesome margaritas next-door at Don Cucos! This is a great place to stay whether working or on vacation.
Looking for a cute place that won’t break your wallet and has free parking? Here it is. As a solo female traveler I always felt safe. Some cute restaurants nearby and easy access to the expressway. Would recommend.
The hotel was super cute and I was very comfortable my whole stay there! Very comfortable bed, large tv's, and a super accommodating staff. In a great area of LA, Toluca Lake, with great restaurants in walking distance!
