My family of five (two parents and three adult children) stayed here one night before a Bodie road trip. This hotel was a perfect stop. The feeling of this old hotel that was actually brought down from Bodie in the 1880s before loading up in the car was irreplaceable. It is worth staying here just for the experience of sleeping...

I really appreciate your review and you kind words. I love taking care of guests and treating people to the kind of experience you have described. Paula is a gem and I am so glad she came into my life. She has exactly the kind of hotelier ethic that I do and that is rare in this business. Thank you...

I have slep 2 nights at bodie hotel with my wife and son. I agree with other advises about small rooms, long hot water to come hold furniture etc. But according to the story about this hotel, we were absulotely facinated about the decor. It was like if it was travel back in time. Every things was fine and clean,...

...but only once. Boyfriend & I stayed here 3 years ago in 2012; & I still can't escape the memories. Genuinely scared all night, expecting a sociopath passing-by-on-the-highway-to come through the unlocked front door of the building, stride boldly past the unoccupied clerk desk (he went home after 9, though he promised he was a phone call away), padding quietly on...

Three years ago, I replaced all the mattresses with new name-brand, high quality mattresses. While the plumbing was replaced several years ago, some rooms require time for the hot water to reach proper temperature, up to a minute. As with all smaller hotels, fluctuations in hot/cold are experienced when several guests are using water at the same time. Built in...

Have been staying at the Bodie Hotel for over 20 years . Great price about 1/2 or more of the other places in town. Great rustic feeling of what the old west may have been like. Rooms are always clean and the staff is friendly .Was driving thru and just had to stop. The hotel was built in about 1856...

I thank you very much for your continued support and your kind words. As I have stated in many other replies on TripAdvisor, I strive to keep the hotel in excellent condition-as excellent as a 150+ years building can be! My staff and I pay great attention to detail and I am a daily part of the operation, even though...

Everything is completely outdated, the shower is a trickle, and takes about 10 minutes for the hot water to get there. Anytime you use the toilet, you have to take the lid off and pull up on the float to stop it. The water is contaminated, and highly recommended not to even brush your teeth with it, let alone drink...

I appreciate you taking the time to review the Bodie Hotel and am sorry for your experience here with us. We strive to keep the hotel clean and dust-free which is sometimes quite the task with the amount of wind and dust we get here in Bridgeport. After a long winter we spend extra time cleaning the entire hotel since...

In the evening of Sept. 27th, my wife and I lived in Bodie Victorian Hotel (the hotel’s address is 281 Main St, CA). The boss’s relative accommodated us and through the phone, and she requested us to pay in cash. After that we entered Room 4, realizing there were no TV, no socket, no drinking water and no cable. What’s...

As a hotel owner/proprietor, I strive to provide a good environment for guests, a check-in procedure that includes full disclosure about the nature and type of hotel the Bodie is, and information about how to best enjoy their experience with us. Unfortunately this guest has left out MANY of the supporting facts about his stay with us. In my 35...

I am very sorry that had an unpleasant experience at my hotel. I can assure readers that the plumbing was replaced to 21st century standards and is code compliant. NO pipes at my hotel are “rusted through”. The hot water sometimes takes up to minute to flow to room sinks and showers. Water pressure will fluctuate as multiple guests use...

There are worse places to stay in this world. If I could I would rate this 2 1/2 stars. It's a step above poor but below average. I made my reservation for this hotel expecting to experience a historic finding. It's historic, it is a finding and it's quite an experience. When I spoke with the owner to make my...

Thank you for taking the time write a review and let me know about your stay in the historic Bodie Hotel and I am very sorry that you had to wait for your room to be made up. I know that on nights when the four rooms with A.C. are not rented, the hotel gets hot. There are full size, fully functional fans (I’m not sure what a “$10.00 fan” is…) in each of the hotel rooms. My room rates are about half of what the larger, more modern hotels in town run. Since your stay I have updated our on-line reservations procedure and I am ALWAYS available by cell phone. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bodie Hotel is a two-story Victorian era house reminiscent of buildings in the nearby mining town of Bodie. It's much like the boarding houses of the 1860s except each room had its own private bathroom with shower installed after being moved to Bridgeport. The rooms vary in size, some with a single bed and others featuring two beds. The black velvet wallpaper coupled with the shag carpeting really help make this boom town building unique. Reasonable rates range from $59.95 to $125 per night. The facility has wireless internet available. ... more   less
