After a shaky start, first finding it and then no-one there to greet us, (ok, we were earlier than the check-in time 2.00pm but it was raining), we had one of our best stays. The hostess made us most welcome and even though the hotel did not normally provide evening meals, agreed to prepare something for us. We agreed on some form of meat dish and left it to her. She and her chef produced a wonderful and tasty dish with pork belly, sausages and veal with a rice and bean side. Delicious and all accompanied by a bottle of red wine (Reserva quality) from the Lisbon region. We were pleasantly surprised with our bill the following morning as all of this came to €30. Excellent value. The hotel whilst small is finished to a very high standard and deserves its high Tripadvisor standing. Not much to do in Minde especially when it is raining. I got married in the village of the Retiro and my family rented the whole house for that weekend. The bedrooms are very clean, spacious, nicely decorated, with amazing views, and the beds were very comfortable. All 15 of us really enjoyed our stay in the Retiro. The location is perfect, both next to the lake and next to the centre of the village. Margarida was very accommodating with our special requests. She allowed us to have pre-wedding party in the patio/garden area for about 80 people on that Friday evening, where everyone had great fun. Overall, we were all very pleased with our stay and we would highly recommend it!
We were welcome during our stay. The owner selected the room with the view for the lake. At this time of the year, the lake was beautiful. It was so peaceful. The breakfast is very good, specially the fresh cheese with jam. I highly recommend it.
I loved everything in this country house. The people, the breakfast, the place, riding a bike... It is in a small village so it’s so calm, you don’t ear any noise at night. Everything was very clean. You have an amazing view. The only negative point that I can find in this amazing place is the size of the bathroom. It is a little bit small.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Friendly owners/staff. Located on the edge of town Minde. The town itself is not very lively if you ask me. 2 supermarkets within 5 min drive. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is a really nice spot! The house is nice, rooms are big and clean, good bed, good breakfast and walking trail PR10 is next to the house. The trail is easy to follow and well marked. If you like hiking, there are more trails in this area which are worth, for example the PR7 from Monsanto. Swimming pool is not too big, but nice to cool down on a hot day! You have nice relax areas in/around the house. We had dinner one time, which was really nice (fish). 3 small points of remark; 1) wifi was not working. Not in room, and in living room you could pick up the signal but not use it. We complaint about it but it was not solved 2) the house is quite noisy. 3) good shower but during the shower the bathroom floor got quite wet (even though there was a shower curtain. …
