The room was well-appointed with a coffee maker, small fridge, safe, iron, hair dryer, all necessary shower essentials, closet, and desk. The location was amazing - close to everything with a wonderful restaurant sharing the courtyard. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the valet parking was reasonable ($30/night to be paid upfront). My car remained on property which was crucial as there were parking restrictions around the hotel.
Just spent 5 nights at The Sonder (Beverly Terrace). Excellent location between West Hollywood and Beverly Hills - so much within walking distance - The Troubadour, restaurants, bars, groceries, coffee. Also had a great, late dinner one night at the cozy restaurant in the hotel. Lovely courtyard full of plants and plenty of seating. Read some questionable reviews before our stay and almost reconsidered- so glad we didn’t! Is the building brand new? No. But it’s charming and well kept. Carpets had just been cleaned in common areas. My friend and I had separate rooms and both were perfectly spotless. The bed was so comfortable and full of pillows. Had plenty of clean towels. Room was quiet, nothing woke me at point other than my alarm! Roku is a welcome tv treat. Front desk folks were all friendly and helpful (shoutout Hailey - you rock!) Will happily stay here next time because on top of everything, was a great deal!…
This is a little boutique hotel in a great location that is walkable for coffee! There is what seems to be a great restaurant in the hotel. It was super comfy and staff is very friendly. My only complaint is parking is 30 bucks a night! and you really really can't street park in this part of LA for more than 2 hours. But this place is great, highly recommend.
I was in LA this past February because my elderly father took a fall and was in hospice. I was there helping to keep him comfortable while we waited for the inevitable end. It was very sad and stressful. About 6 days into that I booked a two night stay at Sonder in LA. Sadly, or perhaps mercifully my dad passed a few hours later. So I had to head back to NY to be with family and prepare for his funeral. I called Sonder within several hours of making my booking and asked to cancel the reservation. They refused, even after I explained the situation. I really couldn't believe how heartless they were. Most hotels will generally be willing to cancel your reservation and refund your money even if you are technically outside of the time this is allowed. It's a gesture of good faith and good for business. But not Sonder. They were just awful to me during that difficult time. This is not a company that I would like to see succeed. They are relatively cheap, so you may still choose to stay here, but if there's even the slightest doubt as to whether or not you will keep the reservation, know that there is a 100% chance that they will keep your money if you try to cancel.…
This hotel *should* be the gem some of the older reviews depict: it's in a good location; it has a courtyard and a rooftop deck; it's a boutique remodel of a classic postwar motel. But, alas, it appears to be being run into the ground by indifferent ownership. Three-quarters of the courtyard you see in the pictures has been taken over by a tennant, the restaurant, and the few couches and tables that remain for guest use are in a state of filth and disrepair. On arrival, the tables were covered in sticky spilled coffee; four days later they remained in the same state. The roof closes before sunset, which is when you'd want to be there. The room I had - contrary to the photo - was tiny, grim, effectively windowless, and compared unfavorably with a Days Inn. The in room coffeemaker had no cream/creamer and the front desk was out...for all five days I was there. The staff -- of which there are very few, this really being an Air BnB pretending to be a hotel -- were friendly enough, but clearly not empowered to solve problems. It's still not a terrible value for where it is, but its shortcomings are so unnecessary I wouldn't want to reward a company that allows them to continue, judging by other reviews, for months on end.…
I was in town to see two shows at the Troubadour. When I looked at my options nearby, the Beverly Terrace was the most economical value. Being in Beverely Hills everything else was 2 to 3 times more expensive than this place. I was very happy with the accomodations.
I love Beverly Terrace. One of the best properties in Beverly Hills and has an amazing restaurant on site that offers dinner. The outside courtyard is also amazing. Perfect place to sit and relax. Room was also clean and comfortable
Avoid. Front desk not staffed, toilet broken, took ten hours and still not fixed, moved to a room with broken shower. Useless, go elsewhere. They dont seem to understand customer service or make any effort / care about guests having a positive stay. No response to feedback, despite promise management would be in touch.
They useI stay in hotels all over the world. 50-100 nights a year. I never had a pre checkin experience even remotely close to this nightmare. Sonder is a no front-desk property which means that if you had an issue with their system no one in the world will be able to help. I booked ahead, landed in LA at 3pm after a 24 hour half-the-globe flight and could not check in to my room at all, not after over a dozen emails, or spending over one hour on the phone with two different agents. I cannot name even one hotel where the issue I had would not be resolved in 2 minutes or less by any clerk at the front desk. If you are really interested, read the details below. If you book with them you have to spend a long time verifying yourself and the form of payment. Something that would take 1 minute at the front desk is on you to resolve for 10 minutes. If there is an issue, and assuming you found their phone, the person on the phone can do nothing. They can only explain the app process. They can’t fix anything. And they explain it like it's your problem. You get spammed with dozens of emails (see picture below, that really don’t help solving any problem) Don’t book with them two rooms at a time. They can’t communicate with two different people. But that communication is needed for the check in code. Don’t book with them at all with a corporate credit card, or your family credit card or any card that’s not yours. As you understand, I had a real problem, I couldn’t check in. I canceled. Sonder lost $2400 dollars. They still can’t resolve it. They still send me messages from at least half a dozen agents that don’t understand what happened, their bots continue to send me messages about checking it, They are out of control. The details I made a reservation on booking.com for two rooms, one for Jack (me) and one for Mary. Since this was a business trip I provided a corporate credit card named on my boss David. Alas, David’s card had an issue so the payment didn’t go through. At this point I got emails from Both Booking and Sonder to provide a different payment. Sonder even gave me a link. I went to the link and provided the card of another executive Jo who I was actually traveling with. It was accepted and I thought all was ok. Then I was asked to verify Jo’s identity. Jo sent me his driver license, but that apparently is not enough since you are actually asked to take a live picture. But What was also revealed later is that they changed Jo to be the payer for only one of the rooms in the reservation. For the second room they still kept David. We’ll get back to that. Since I was actually traveling with Jo, I didn’t worry too much, I thought we will take care of it when we arrive. I traveled half the globe from Tel Aviv to LA, and arrived there at 3pm after being ~24 hours in planes. However Jo was delayed and was only supposed to land at 9pm. I wanted to check in. They didn’t let me. They said that Jo didn’t verify. Mary was trying to check in as well. She was confused, for her they said that David didn’t verify his card. I wrote an email and called support on my taxi to the hotel. 30 minutes later, they said they can’t do anything for me, until Jo (and David) personally log into my sonder account and they verify the form of payment by providing their id and taking a live picture. I offered to swap the credit card and give them my own personal one so I can easily verify that. However this can not be done in Sonder. Not even by the support people on the phone. I would either need to verify both David (which had a problem with his corporate credit card in the first place) and Jo. Or cancel the reservation and start everything again from scratch. They did not agree to receive a payment on the phone on the spot from my own credit card. They did “kindly” offer for someone to meet me at the hotel and take my suitcase into storage (but this person could not let me into the room until the verification happened). At 9 pm, after many more emails, and another phone call, I gave up, and went to another hotel. because even after Jo verified, they insisted that David still needs verify… When you complain they keep giving the BS excuse about security etc’ completely ignoring simple options that work anywhere like providing an option to use a different credit card. If hotels use a system to save them manpower, they also have to have mechanisms to help you resolve issues when it doesn’t work. BTW - 24 hours later, after I told them that I canceled, I still get emails from the hotel, telling me that I am almost done with the check in process, and they only need to get Jo and David verify the account…. My suggestion: Go to sonder if you love spending time with Bots and with people that can’t do anything that the bots can’t… How was the room? I have no clue, I never got to see it… an app for everything.…
First the bad: the company had pretty poor communication and customer service. When I called the number provided to ask about check in, I spoke to a main number who had to call this location a few times to see what the answer would be. Communication was poor and cumbersome. I was on hold for 15 minutes at one point. While they have a question section on their app, some things are more efficient with a phone call. Check in is at 4:00 which is later than most hotels. When i entered my room after the hour there was an employee checking everything. You also really want to have their app on your phone for convenience in checking in. You have to schedule a cleaning two days in advance and you get one free cleaning. I'm all for less cleaning (keep costs down and save the environment a bit), but i needed new towels (which i did get) after 4 days. I didn't realize you needed 2 days notice to schedule a cleaning, i tried to apply for same day cleaning with no luck. The good: there is a person at the front desk at all times (minus a few min) that i walked past even though the vibe of the hotel is contactless. You get a code for your room which eliminates the need for a room key. The location is excellent if you're wandering around Beverly Hills or West Hollywood. There is so much within a mile or less of the hotel. My room was clean and large enough. Some people complained that it's not large enough but i disagree. By American standards it's probably average sized. There's a bed, closet, bathroom with shower.…
