Gorgeous atrium lodge with extraordinary fireplace and historical photos at a great location near Bear Mountain for downhill skiing and trails for cross country skiing. Amazing food in the first class restaurant. Yes, rustic and historic. Definitely not modern and updated. If that is important...More

So glad you enjoyed this special place. It is a special experience that conjures up a traditional cozy ski lodge. Thanks so much for taking the time to post your thoughts. We do appreciate it.
Rented a room for my family. Hotel clerk couldn't find our reservation. No one answers the phone so I had gone in to make reservations in person but still there was an issue with checking in. Employees were rude. Room had no towels in it....More

Sorry to hear about your experience. Definitely surprised about your encounter with our staff, we typically hear that they are all very helpful. The hotel is a 50-year-old building and the noise does carry and the reason we have quiet hours from 10pm...More
Two words...crap. hole. While the location is great, the hotel is in dire need of renovation. We were "upgraded" to one of the "best rooms" at the lodge (reception host's words), but outside our room were 3 buckets collecting water from the leaky roofs. The...More

So sorry about your experience. The Lodge is a 50-year-old hotel with a rich history and our guests really enjoy the Cathedral lounge gathering space and of course the mountain recreation. While the forest is fun to explore, there are definitely some limitations with...More
We wanted to take a trip around the California foothills, so stayed at the Bear Valley Lodge for 2 nights. We were disappointed in the rooms. The first room had visible mold in a wall. We requested a different room. It did not have mold,...More

Thank you for your inquiry. We are walking distance to the Cross Country Ski Area and tubing hill, but for Bear Valley Ski Resort (the downhill), we are a short drive, about 3 miles away. We do have a shuttle that runs from the Lodge to the Ski Lodge every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays and every hour midweek. That bus schedule will begin when the Ski area opens 7 days a week on Dec 17th. Right now it is only open on the weekend, no shuttle bus.
