This was our 4th visit and we were so looking forward to it due to COVID rescheduling. The grounds and our room were great as usual. The staff was attentive but there definitely seemed to be less numbers of them than in the past. This could be a result of COVID. Overall the food was not up to the standards that we have had in the past. Much of the seafood all tasted the same. The Lobster Bisque was not lobster, it was some other type of fish. After a couple of dinners, we stopped ordering seafood because it all tasted like the same fish. I had a ribeye one night that was terrible. It was about 1/4 inch thick and was almost mushy. Our biggest complaint was of the main pool. The music was played much louder than we remember. It was exceptionally bad on our 3rd day when explicit rap/hip hop was played for hours on end. Woman were twerking and showing their bare breasts. And song after song continued to be played which to me says the staff and or the resort are complicit with this type of behavior. If I wanted a strip club atmosphere I would have sought it out in the Hotel Zone or downtown Playa del Carmen. We discussed this issue with customer service and all they could offer was a beach palapa on the day we were leaving. The shine has worn off. We believed this was our forever resort but now feel like we will need to look elsewhere.

Hotel's Favourite
This resort is the absolute BEST! Their staff has a culture all of its own and treats everyone like royalty. The always over exceed expectations and we never wanted to leave. We have been to Hawaii and the Bahamas and Mexico was our favorite. There is no need to stay anywhere else. We made friends with some of the visitors and the STAFF. MARCOS was our favorite! We are now friends on Facebook. We plan to return in January! MOST AMAZING VACATION TO DATE!

Valentin Imperial is a great resort to stay at. I was so impressed with how clean they keep it and the staff is so friendly. It is a beautiful place and they treat you very good. The rooms are big and the bed and pillows are amazing. You have a wide selection of restaurants on site that you can choose from. Covid testing was easy to set up and very fast.

Had a great 10 day stay at the Valentine for a delayed honeymoon/anniversary, We had a Golden Jr. Suite with a King bed and opted for the privilege package. Our room was huge with 2 TVs and a comfy bed. House keeping/turndown service was great - got some chocolate covered strawberries/cheese plate/other chocolates before bed. Room service was great - there were a few nights we couldn't make it to dinner so this came in handy. Room service was usually a 45 minute to an hour wait so keep that in mind before ordering. The chicken wings lived up to the hype! The restaurant food was great. Our favourite was the Hibachi followed by the Indonesian - we did each twice. Also tried the Mexican, French, and Italian. Italian was our least favourite but the food was still very good. We were in building 6 which was a little far from the restaurants but would call a cart to take us to dinner and would walk home. We set up our Bali bed at the pool for 4 days and the beach for 5. We were surprised by the difference in the temperature as the beach was at least 10 degrees cooler than the pool area. It was quieter too. We spent our afternoons in the Golden pool before getting ready for dinner. We appreciated that there were different "vibes" for different areas. The main pool is clearly the party area of the resort and the afternoons can get quite rowdy, the beach was quiet and relaxing, the golden pool was quiet during the day but would pick up during the afternoon - not to the level of the main pool. We spent our evenings at Don Miguels playing cards - the piano player was great and they've got great drinks and service. Cannot forget the Churro cart - you've got to get them to end your evening. As a cigar smoker I'd advise any other smokers to bring your own. There was a good selection of Cuban cigars in the lounge but they were pricy. $66 for a Montecristo no. 2 and $50 for a Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2. I would recommend the privilege package to anyone that can afford it - the ability to book your bali bed reserves you a spot at the beach or the main pool. But more importantly you can book your restaurant reservations ahead of time - the wait seemed to average anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour for the other guests. Shoutouts: Darvillelo at Mari Tiara was the first waiter we had and would make sure we were seated in his section the remainder of the trip. Great service and was always cracking a joke. Jared and Fransisco are the pool/beach concierge setting up our bali beds - they were able to switch our bed locations on short notice many times and sometimes would have our bed set up even before we arrived. The Imperial Band was jamming. Lorenzo from the GO team was awesome and welcoming - his pool volleyball matches were entertaining (even though he cheated me out of a couple wins lol). Oscar from the privilege lounge was the only employee we had an issue with. He was RUDE during our check in - lectured us over a simple misunderstanding about the mask policy. After our first interaction with him we avoided him at all costs - he quickly earned the nickname of Oscar the Grouch after he had a similar altercation with our friends regarding the alcohol in their rooms.

We just returned from our 4th great trip to the Valentin with another couple. After having tried resorts in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic we returned to the Valentin and will return within the year, why? We love the tropical feel of the resort, buildings are 3 stories and nestled in the beautifully landscaped surroundings. Not a high rise with a lot of cement. Nice rooms with great beds and sheets. The food is the best of all the all-inclusive resorts we have tried (probably 10 in all- Mexico, Jamaica, DR, Bahamas). The thing that continues to impress my husband and I is the staff. The friendly and hard working people here really aim to please. Every service person we encountered had a great attitude- the waitresses working around the pool, bartenders, waiters, bellman etc. and not because they are looking for a tip. (We do tip) You can do as much or as little as you like here. (Yoga, water bikes etc) We spent a lot of time in the main pool, drinks in hand, then wandered down to the beach for a while and hung out at the beach bar for a while after a swim before heading back to the main pool for another drink, lol. The French restaurant was our favorite- we went twice for the filet mignon, although we enjoyed them all. We usually had lunch around the pool, the waitress took our order for the food truck (new) and within minutes we were eating (chicken nachos and steak burritos) it was surprisingly very good. Breakfast at the beach restaurant was so good, great omelettes, french toast and mimosas. If you're thinking of going- just go, you'll thank me later!
