We were booked into the Royal Hotel but we were moved to the Glenbank due to a fire at the Royal. We were definitely not disappointed with the change. We had a lovely big room, huge bed, big bathroom and a lovely breakfast. Everything was very clean and felt quite luxurious. The Glenbank has a short driveway with some trees at the entrance and it has a garden so it feels quiet and secluded. The staff were lovely and helpful and helped us arrange a lift back to where we had left St Cuthbert’s Way. We would have no hesitation in going back.
Hotel looked good on web however it was disappointing they don’t in-fact have a restaurant and the bar was dated. The room was fine but shower seemed to be falling apart, Wi-fi in the room did not work, we had to go down stairs to get a connection. When we spoke to owner she gave us another link however this was not secure, so we felt we should not use this. The bar was dated and not a great selection of drinks. Grounds looked shabby on arrival and didn’t look as though any gardening had taken place for quite some while, all over grown at the entrance. Signs are outdated showing restaurant and bar perhaps these need re looking at.
We booked the hotel through Booking.com for what we felt was a reasonable price and location We were going to an event in the town Upon arrival just before 3pm we drove into the car park, first impressions were not overwhelming! However We went in and was greeted by I assume the owner who was a very friendly lady, the reception was very very nice which put our mind at rest. We were given our room key, which was on the first floor at the front of the hotel. Our room was quite large with a huge bed, a wardrobe, bedside units, dressing table, bathroom with a lovely shower etc We left for our social event returning in the early hours, one of the keys you get is for the front door. We crashed into bed which luckily was very comfortable, we passed out!!! Breakfast was between 8 and 9.30 and I have to say was excellent and of a very high quality, we opted for the full Scottish We would definitely return when next in Jedburgh …
We stayed here for 4 nights, using it as a base to explore the border area. It's very well located in Jedburgh with everything with easy walking distance, and has great off-street parking. Audrey and Jan are absolutely lovely and we were well looked after. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was great. Would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends.
Nice hotel with good location. The room and bath were clean. They had a good breakfast. I was just disappointed that they list in their description and the sign outside, that they had a restaurant and bar. They were not open.
