We were very lucky to be able to spend eight weeks here at the wonderful WB Villa. It is truly fantastic. Hiran, the manager and staff of five go above and beyond to help your stay be the best it can. Nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the separate bungalow which is delightful. The whole property is beautifully decorated and maintained to a high degree with a fantastic, well kept garden. WB is directly on the beach with wonderful views of the Thalpe pools which provide amazing snorkelling and safe swimming. Added bonus of turtle watching from the comfort of your sun lounger. The breakfasts are so good with a large fresh fruit platter, choice of eggs and freshly ground coffee. We were very sad to leave and would highly recommend anyone to stay here. You will not be disappointed. It's a gem. A place away from the crowds to relax with the option to go into nearby Unawatuna or Galle nearby. There is also an authentic Italian restaurant on site which serves home made delicious Italian food. Thank you to Hiran, Sampath, Chandana, Janith, Kelum and Amith for making our stay so very special. Come to WB and fall in love with it as we did.…
We had the fist floor luxury suite which is way better than advertised. A real wow factor when you arrive. The hotel grounds are beautiful and there is a lovely sitting/sunbathing area just separated from the beach by a low wall making the area nice and private. Easy access onto the beach down a few steps. The beach is small but safe and there is an area very close by which is great for swimming (in the lovely warm and clean sea). We preferred this to busy beaches where activities are provided. A really lovely setting. The staff were very nice and attentive. We had an evening meal on one night of our stay which was very good although the price was close to what we would pay at home (but not quite as good). It was lovely to sit in the restaurant next to the sea so it did feel special and we expect this would be hard to find elsewhere in the area. Check in was made very easy and contactless but the only place on our 2 week tour where were not offered a free welcome drink. This hotel was our second most expensive on our tour and the only reason we could not give this 5 stars was that you felt that they wanted make more money on add ons. We had a second coffee at breakfast which they advised would be extra. We settled our bill the evening before our early departure. The next morning as we were rushing to leave they advised that the morning extra coffees were missed off our bill so we had to go back in to pay a further £5.00. They were good enough to do an early morning take out breakfast for us but were 15 minutes late with it. That’s why it was annoying when we had to go back and pay for the coffee. We don’t blame the staff for this as the manager was not there so they maybe did not have the authority to change this. Don’t let this put you off staying here as it is a special place with excellent staff and we would stay again. The new owner seems really nice and will hopefully take on board this feedback.…
It was a wonderful holiday. Shanthi Yamuna Suba Kamini Manovathana Sagu and I spent three days. The villas were beautifully decorated and very cozy comfortable and convenient. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. We enjoyed the food and every night we had a beautifully laid out dinner and sea food was exquisite. The sea was clean and we all got into the water. It was a safe beach and the staff stayed nearby looking after us. It was one of our best stays. We went on a boat ride near the hotel. We stayed mostly indoors but had so many things to do. Loved the villas
A charming, quiet restaurant in a lovely setting. The menu has many hints of Italy with a number of pasta dishes but the seafood was also first class. A decent, not too expensive wine list and efficient service made this a very pleasant evening.
Very nice food. No, brilliant food. Especially here on the coast of Sri Lanka. I waited 3 weeks before I ate pasta and this was the right choice. Authentic. No hosting to mention but good enough service.
Family went for dinner and had an amazing experience with Italian food to die for. Excellent olive oil, home made pasta and fresh seafood. Plus great selection of wine. On the pricey side but well worth it. Architecture and setting of the place is also well worth the visit
A gorgeous private luxurious place to stay when visiting Galle - 5min trip by tuk tuk into Dutch fort where all the good restaurants and shops are located. Located on fantastic lagoon style beach and not many people on it - perfect for swimming. Small Italian restaurant located onsite where breakfast is served every morning overlooking the beach. Had dinner there on last night and the food and service was excellent. Beautifully manicured garden which was maintained by number of staff every morning. The staff are very friendly and professional and made this a stay we will always remember as one of our best. Our friends stayed at The Fortress but we all agreed our villa was the preferred place to stay.
The highlight of this Villa without a doubt is the location, having seen a number of beaches in the South, this was easily the cleanest, most peaceful, and best for swimming, thanks to the reef protection. It seems to be a well-kept secret as not many people were on the beach save for a few locals. Staying at the WB Villa does feel special also since there are only two rooms, sufficient lounging space, well manicured gardens, and well appointed rooms. It is like staying at friend's house instead of a busy hotel. The restaurant does attract some patrons but never got too loud while we were there. The staff as well were very attentive and always available. Would liked to have stayed longer and hope to return some time in the future.
Having just returned from Sri Lanka, I would certainly rate this as a fabulous boutique hotel. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful. The food is Italian in nature and very well presented. We found Galle itself to be very hot and crowded and to have this have as fantastic and it is one of the few places from where you can swim and snorkel
Just fantastic. Wonderful room with PRESSURE on the water in the shower. Heavenly wine and food. This small family run hotell (Italian) is private luxury that need to be experienced. Outside there is a lagoon that makes it perfect for bathing / swimming. On the west coast of SL, big wawes makes it difficult to use the beaches at wintertime, so this lagoon is really nice. The service is outstanding, and this place is highly recommended.
