With my mother we had the best stay ever at the Paragon Hotel : )! We fell in love with this little paradise filled with such kind people, we feel blessed about this whole experience . This place is a real little gem. a very traditional unpretentious Ayurvedic hotel facing the ocean protected by a reef which makes the swimming very secure and safe. There is a very big swimming pool with salted water which is perfect for a long swim. You can order fresh juices all day long at anytime served by the kindest smiley waiters. Everyday you have treatments for 2 hours by therapists who have magical hands! You feel like a new person after this stay! The sound of the ocean accompanies you during this very relaxing process and every night you fall asleep deeply and you feel at peace. In the morning you wake up with the songs of the king fischers and other tropical birds and have unbelievable breakfasts lunch and dinners all very healthy and fresh. The doctors are real professionals who give you unforgettable advices and life lessons. We will come back! a place to go without hesitation! Perfect place to go alone or with your mother or best friend!!! Good for any age!…
I stayed at the Paragon for a week in Dec 2018. I was the youngest person by a country mile (32) but that didn´t matter. Waking up to the sound of the sea straight to meditation followed by light yoga was just such a great start to my mornings. The food was FANTASTIC! I tried to really eat vegan the whole week (with a couple pieces of yummy fish in between. The herbal medication I struggled a little to follow and take, but I am very healthy so I don´t think this mattered so much. I spent my mornings reading by the pool being delivered coconuts and swimming in the reef. Afternoons were spent having massages and in the stéam bath or sauna. The paragon is really an authentic Ayurveda experience. The staff are just wonderful too and they can´t do enough for you. The only downside I would say is its very German. I speak German so it was ok, but i think if you don´t you might feel a little excluded. The place could do with a bit of an upgrade but it is very clean. Overall I think if you are looking for an authentic Ayurveda re-treat and you have ailments which needs cured, this is the right place. I would love to take my mum back! oh and I was also travelling alone! no problem at all do it!…
We stayed at Paragon during almost two weeks for our first time of ayurveda. I'm giving it a four stars but only because I don't want you reading this to have overexpectations. The premises could possibly look a little bit more up to date but the place in a whole is lovely. For my partner and me it was just perfect and it has been a wonderful, unforgettable experience, deserves a Five and we will definetely return! We already knew the site from a previous visit to Sri Lanka, when we made a short stop at Paragon because a friend had told us about it. So four years later we booked a superior room, which was absolutely nice and spacious. The sea was just directly under our terrace and its sound and the view is so unbelivable that will really stay printed in our mind and soul for a very long time. It was wonderful to be aware of its presence at every corner. I slept better as the days went by and was totally relaxed. Because of the reef it is very safe to swimm and snorkel. The locals at the water front didn't bother us at all, just the opposite. The tuc tuc drivers may be slightly insistent but are always very friendly. Although the road besides the hotel can be noisy, it melted with the other sounds and, if anything, it reminded us that we were in SL. The members of the staff in ALL different departments were very kind in a genuine way and we almost could only see friendly smiles the whole day through. I wish to congratulate and thank them all sincerely because they make a very good service! The hotel always tryed to make our stay easy and comfortable. The food was delicious and fresh at all meals and we had mostly vegetables, soups and fruits, no alcoholic drinks nor coffee, and had to drink a lot of warm water throughout the day and the coctions or medicines in accordance with the Ayurveda treatment. At Valentines an incredible beautiful garden dinner was prepared! Well done! The transfers and all rides with the hotel taxi were always soft and the drivers very polite in line with all the rest. The vast majority of the guests were german speaking but whenever we were there the main language was english, so we could follow all activities like yoga, films, lectures, shows,...and felt absolutely welcomed. All the best!…
This was my second stay at Ayurveda Paragon (1998 and 2017) and it was still as wonderful as I remembered it to be. Unlike any other vacation filled with distractions, this is the place where you can fully relax and completely being taken care of. Doctors, staff and guest services were professional and courteous at all times. This could be an experience engaging and meeting like-minded people or just entirely focusing on yourself. I greatly enjoyed practicing Yoga daily as I finally found the time during my stay. This was a life changing experience the first time, and has been a similar experience again providing essential foundations for a healthy life (body and mind!). As many people mentioned already - the food was outstanding and I am craving it every day back here in London. We will definitely return. Ayubowan…
The location on the beach is wonderful and thanks to a sandbank you can even swim in the sea. It is close to Galle which is fascinating to visit. The treatments were outstanding and the service from the waiters, roomboys, pool attendants and reception throughout faultless. The rooms could do with some refurbishment and it would be a bonus to have air conditioning installed in them. Some new bedsheets would be nice too! All in all I had a great time and feel much rejuvenated! I will be back!
In December, I visited the Paragon for 13 days and found most things excellent. The staff are really great, especially new arrival Christine who went over and above to help me with my every need. The reviews are true. The food and treatments are very good. Not to repeat the same, I will just make a few comments which may be useful. Most guests are repeat guests and have come a few times before. This is very much a place you can come to on your own and make plenty of friends of all ages. But if you can’t speak German, you might want to check if any English speakers are expected before you come. I was the only non-German speaker for most of the time so at times the talk was all in German. Even the staff spoke to me in German when English was more likely their language. I didn’t really mind because it’s difficult for the speaker to say everything twice, but I did miss some things. A slight problem at times was when someone unable to speak English joined my table and we ended up staring awkwardly at each other for the entire meal. The Wi-Fi is only in the lobby, dining room and shop. And it’s really inconsistent. There is a computer room with two computers if you need them. There is a really lovely beach only 10 minutes away. Outside the resort, you may be pestered by tuk-tuk drivers. Their aim is to get you into the jewelers shop or turtle farm so they can get a commission. Just be firm and say no nicely (unless you want to go – it won’t cost you more). Double check all your treatments and what you need to do. I think I was very tired in the beginning so I got a lot of things wrong. Keep asking lots of questions. If you really are an experienced at yoga, do not expect intense classes. They are for beginners. But you will especially appreciate the afternoon classes as that instructor will remind you about some important basics that you have forgotten. The staff do not earn much and some tipping each week does seem the norm – it’s the same all around Sri Lanka. Bring mosquito repellent. They can be a bit fierce around sunset. And enjoy the sunsets. They are beautiful most nights. Yes, the hotel is on a busy road, but all I heard all night was the sound of the sea.…
I went with an open mind and just wanted to know more about Ayurveda. Very pleased with my choice and could not have wished for a better stay. Serious treatments, excellent doctors and superb service. This is not a spa and should only be chosen if you are wanting the "real thing". Rooms very comfortable (no air conditioning true to the Ayurveda concept) and the staff could not have been more accommodating. I would not hesitate to recommend and will consider returning in the future. Location is perfect as it is near to the lovely town of Galle and this is a beach front property. I went to sleep each night with nothing but the sound of the ocean....just perfect and I am now a convert.
It was the love from the first look and I'm steel dreaming to come back here. I like everything in this place - their friendliness, professionalism, care, interior of the hotel, the masterpieces of the chef. I miss all of them and look forward to the next visit here.
I recently spent one week at the Ayurveda Paragon and only wish I could have stayed longer. I have been to several ayurvedic centers in India and Sri Lanka, and rank Paragon as the best I've experienced. I got the impression that the doctor was extremely 'gifted' in his ayurvedic knowledge and in reading his patients. The massage technicians were skilled, professional, and it was a delight to be in their care. The ayurveda clinic ran like clock-work with medicines ready and treatments starting on time. The hotel is situated on a long, narrow strip of land between the sea and the beach road. The views are lovely and the constant sight, sound and breeze of the sea was very healing in itself. I was a bit worried of the noises from the busy street nearby, but I only heard the honking of buses, etc a few times from some of the outdoor areas and the occasional call from a "beach boy" near the water - the sound of crashing waves is what you hear most of the time. There is a walking promenade along the length of the property, a safe beach for swimming, and a lovely pool - so although the property is not huge (it's a hotel rather than a resort), there are options for moving and exercising. The food was delicious and the restaurant staff were very attentive - you could not sit anywhere on the property for more than 5 minutes before someone was offering to bring you a a fresh juice or tea. The common areas were spacious and the free wifi in the lobby very useful in the evenings. If you don't speak German, you may feel a bit isolated, but I didn't mind, as I welcomed the chance to be quiet and rest without much socializing. My only comments on what could be improved, would be on the rooms. My room had a balcony with a sea view, and although the room was a bit small, it was comfortably furnished. However, the ventilation and air-flow in the room, and particularly the bathroom, was poor. The ceiling fan in the room was blocked by the mosquito net, and the air vents over the front door and in the bathroom seemed to be very dirty and blocked. The addition of small fans in the bathroom would be helpful. Overall, Paragon is an excellent choice for ayurveda treatment and I would happily return for another stay.…
I recently spent two weeks at the hotel and could not have asked for more. The treatments were first class and carried out by well trained staff. The ambiance of the hotel is serene and relaxing. The location on the ocean also adds to the sense of relaxation. This was my first Ayuerveda experience and I was not sure if it would have a positive effect on me. One month on and I am feeling significantly better. I would recommend staying for two to three weeks to get the most out of the treatment. When you compare to other options of a similar type in Sri Lanka and India this place is excellent value for money. I will certainly consider returning to Hotel Paragon in the future.
