Travellers' Choice
In Santillana del Mar, The Mennor House "La Casa del Organista" is a large mountain house dating from the XVIII century. It has been carefully restored by artisan stonemasons and carpenters who have transformed what was for 60 years the house belonging to the Organist of the Colegiata of Santillana for its current use as an outstanding hotel.

We stayed at La Casa del Organista for two nights in beautiful Santillana del Mar and could not have been met with more exceptional kindness or service. Everything about this town and this hotel is quaint, charming, beautiful, lovely and full of quality. Breakfast was particularly wonderful, the decor and architecture is quite special, as well. However, nothing and no one ever beat the true meaning of hospitality and kindness with which we were met by Rafael and staff. Such lovely, lovely people! We received genuine appreciation and this is the example of hospitality that other hotels and restaurants seem to lack. The genuineness was overwhelming! We loved our stay here. The parking downstairs was easy in a town where parking could be difficult. I will always remember the beauty of this hotel and town but what will bring me back will be the kindness and the feelings I came away with. Beautiful experience! Thank you!

Just in the middle of town, Casa del Organista provides nice accommodations amenities. Personal service is its most important asset since all questions and requirements will be solved with experience and a smile. We stayed a couple of nights as a base in Santillana del Mar for visiting towns and cities around. However, you may have to take into consideration that the rooms do not have air conditioning that could be an issue during hot summer nights.

We spent two nights here in this lovely posada, well cared for and comfortable. This very old former barn maintains many beautiful features and has been updated. Terrific breakfast, which you can take on the terrace overlooking the countryside. Comfy bed, good hot shower, and lots of nice touches. A charming old town, its cobbled roads closed (mostly) to traffic. Amazing restaurants with fresh seafood and the local cheeses and Iberian ham. A great base camp from which to explore Alta Mira

A beautiful, warm and welcoming place to call home for a day or two. It's just so charming, and the fellow working the front desk and breakfast the next day was so nice. I loved the sitting area outside of the rooms! Great continental breakfast (6 euro) with freshly squeezed orange juice and good hot coffee. P.S. It can be a little difficult to find, but it's worth it!

We decided to stay in Santillana at the last minute. Santillana del Mar is a beautiful Medieval village. La Casa del Organista (presumably named after one of the previous owners who was the church organist) is a beautiful restored 300 year old farm house. Quaint with wooden floors, beams, stone walls...a credit to the owners. This posada is located in the centre of the town so short walks to everything. Parking is available in their private car park located at the rear of the property..a big bonus. Lots of restaurants nearby. Free WiFi. Lovely breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice good value at €6.50. Host Rafa was very accommodating and friendly. We had a quiet twin room on the top floor overlooking the pasture...the only disturbance was the church bell ringing on the hour and half hour..and the cockerel..!..these added to the charm of the place. I look forward to an extended visit in the future.
