Travellers' Choice
17th-18th century palace converted into a hotel at Santillana del Mar's downtown. I was moved stone by stone and rebuilt in 1974. You will be surrounded by art and history everywhere. It is an authentic museum, decorated with exquisite taste. The facilities have beautiful lounges and common areas, a garden terrace with views of the imposing main facade and free WIFI at any facilitie. The buffet breakfasts is very complete with hot grill included, and the staff will always attend you with a big smile. Inform you that the hotel meets all requirements in this regard. It has the seal of "Safe Hospitality", granted by Hospitality of Spain, through the Cantabrian Hospitality Association. All the workers of this company have been trained in this regard, therefore, tranquility and security will be hand in hand accompanying you on your vacation.

Amazing property, this was a family home, it is full of museum-like objects. Antiques everywhere, clocks, paintings, furniture absolutely beautiful, you can "feel" the history. We had a lovely room, was on the ground floor with no view but didn't matter as so much to see literally out the door. Breakfast was served in the lower floor which was a shame as zero view. Large breakfast room with typical buffet, a young man was cooking eggs as his first day on the job, did a really good breakfast. He will have cracked it by the end of the first week.

Fernando was wonderful. He shared his family history about the hotel and the local area. The hotel is pristine, gardens flower filled and art work & furnishing extraordinary. His life partner Vicky was so helpful aiding one of our travel companion’s sunburn. I wish we could have stayed longer. Will be back next year.

We stayed for 1 night in a lovely room full of antiques. The bathroom was charming with an excellent shower. The staff were great and we had a lovely meal and excellent wine in the restaurant. The visit was very good value for money.

With matching history and architecture of the town where it stands, inside and out, we were very pleasantly surprised from the first moment we arrived. Very attentive and helpful front desk and staff made us feel at eight at home. As we were checking out, we asked the receptionist, which turned out to be the niece of the visionary gentleman who setup the hotel, to tell us about the history of the jewel-like hotel building, which she gladly did. Long story short, this noble Villa with a rich history was actually transported from a nearby town. With the Villa in decay, her grandfather purchased all the stones and the gorgeous facade, restored it and put it up where it stands today. I want to thank the smart grandfather for saving this beautiful Villa and sharing it with us. Fascinating!

This is just lovely . An epic story of grand parents dragging an historic façade miles overland to build a hotel frontage . Then building a hotel behind it , stuffed with antique furniture. It's beautifully clean and the breakfast is good with a wide choice. Friendly staff , what's not to like ?
