The Anner Hotel's prime location garners high marks from guests, making it a favored choice for events and access to nearby attractions. While the hotel's staff receives accolades for their warm hospitality, and the rooms and common areas are praised for their cleanliness and comfort, some guests feel the decor could use a refresh.
Additionally, the hotel's atmosphere is generally described as inviting, though occasionally disrupted by events. Although the amenities, including the food, are well-regarded, there are mentions of long waits and concerns about value for money.

It's an absolutely lovely hotel. I can not praise the staff and management highly enough. They go above and beyond to accommodate your wishes and needs. We were a family group of 13, including 3 very young children and 3 teenagers. We had booked four rooms, and when we checked in, they put us in four rooms right next door to each other, which we thought was very considerate of them. We chose this hotel for a new year's break and getaway because of the excellent reviews it has, and we are more than impressed. The hotel was fairly busy, so I spoke to the restaurant manager who advised me to book a table for our evening meal to avoid disappointment. I explained that my party had young children and a baby, and he paused, then said that he might be able to accommodate us in a room next to the restaurant if I was agreeable. I looked at the room, and it was amazing, so I agreed. When we arrived for our meal, we were escorted to the room, and it was set up beautifully with a huge banqueting table with crisp white linen. My family were really impressed, it meant that our children would not disturb and spoil the other guests' enjoyment. The service and food were first class. After we dined, we retired to the cosy foyer seating area to see in the new year. Just before midnight, the manager came over with three glasses of alcohol free prosecco for the children, which was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated, especially by the children who then really felt part of the midnight celebrations. I could go on, but all I will say is amazing food, amazing hotel, and probably the most pleasant, accommodating staff and management we have ever come across. We will recommend this hotel with its lovely staff to our friends and family and will return some day. Thank you to all of the staff and management for making this such a memorable experience.

€319 for 2 nights B&B. Very pleasant staff and friendly staff throughout. Our room was clearly recently renovated and despite its location near the lift, the noise levels were remarkably low (the lift broke down on morning one but was repaired within an hour or so, although the electrical mains were switched off temporarily to facilitate this). The room was clean, as was the bedding and bed. Iinen. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows likewise. There was nowhere to hang a full length coat; the bathroom needed a few more hooks for towels etc. These are minor niggles, but were they to be attended to it would raise the satisfaction rating. Breakfast was an extensive display of food and the cooked items were most generously portioned. Top marks for that! We dined in Ed’s bar & bistro on evening one and found the staff most helpful and cheery and the portion size was huge! Top marks for that too!

We stayed at The Anner for two nights and would absolutely return again . The friendliness and professionalism of the staff in all departments, reception, bistro bar, dining room , housekeeping and leisure Centre made us feel so welcome . The food and service both in the bistro (first night) and dining room (second night) was excellent. Staff went above and beyond to make our celebration weekend truly happy and memorable . Cooked breakfast in our room (a spacious, spotlessly clean family room) was piping hot, something that frequently doesn’t happen even in 5* hotels. Thank you so much to everyone 😊

I had the most wonderful experience staying at the Anner Hotel. Having travelled widely in many countries around the world I found the Anner Hotel to be one of the most comfortable and homely hotels I ever resided in. The restaurant staff especially Viktoria who always had a smile on her face gave a me such a warm welcome every breakfast which is so welcoming as a solo traveller. She looked after me very well. The reception, housekeeping and bar staff are also so friendly and helpful. I can't fault Thurles as a place to stay especially if you want the 'Real Ireland feel in a pretty Irish town where you still hear Church bells ringing and can see a sparkling clean river running through the town.

We had our wedding here many years ago and decided on a last minute overnight stay to meet up with friends in the area. Room number 244 @ a cost of €160 (No breakfast included) was allocated to us, the room was definitely not up to standard for a 4 star hotel and was really disappointing. Cushions on the bed were stained, the carpet was frayed/torn, the kettle had dirty water left in it and the bathroom floor was not clean. We did not opt to have breakfast at an additional cost, however we did visit the lunch carvery, which I could not fault, the quality of the food and service was excellent.

Stayed for 2 nights but, sadly, it was not a 4 star experience.
Hotel very dated and tired, needs serious refresh to bring up to 4-star level.
Usual type of bar food selection. Food good with great portions. Adequate but friendly service.
Breakfast selection was quite limited, particularly buffet choices. Slow service, perhaps due to the resident families with children dominating breakfast area prior to going to school. Said families were also noisy and disruptive too but we do appreciate that their situation is very challenging.
Although worthy in trying to accommodate various needs, the hotel is failing to provide a 4-star service to paying guests.
These issues would have been brought to attention on checkout but there was no general engagement from reception staff - we were not even bid a safe onward journey which is fairly standard practice.
Would not return nor recommend to others.

The hotel is ok, but the cleaning seems to be the issue. Our room wasn't hoover, there were still remains of the cereals on the floor, on the hallway you can smell of dust. The water in the swimming pool feels cold, so don't encourage us to use it. When we went to the bar we got not full pint of Guinness. The breakfast was very good. Nice service on reception desk. Over all not to bad but could do better.

Dear North Star, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Your feedback is noted following your recent stay with us and we are sorry for any discomfort caused. We do hope that you alerted our managers to your issues so that they were in a position to rectify them. In terms of the pint of Guinness, we have noted recently that a couple of guests had taken their pints from the counter before they were fully poured, and our bar manager then had to quickly take the drinks back to the bar to be finished as they were not fully ready. I hope that this wasn't your experience. Thank you for your positive comments regarding breakfast and our reception team. Kind regards Sandra McGrath Sales & Marketing Manager

From walking in the door of the Anner, All the staff were friendly, cheerful and welcoming. From a bright "good morning" from housekeeping staff met in a hallway to a brief friendly chat with reception, bar and/or waiting staff. Service in all departments was "spot on". Food, drinks etc were very good also. Throughout my stay I felt completely welcome and relaxed as if whatever the possible request, nothing would be too much trouble. Only one small niggle, there were no 2 prong sockets for shavers or electric toothbrushes anywhere in the room. Previous experience meant I had remembered to bring a 2 to 3 prong adapter. 😉

We enjoyed our stay at the Anner very much, our first time in Thurles. We stayed in a large double and single room which had only been redecorated. The bathroom and wet room style shower were something to be proud of, everything new. The power shower and separate hair washing spray with a large low profile shower tray that actually did it's job was excellent. The workmanship in the bathroom was of a very high standard, beautifully tiled and grouted. I wish my own bathroom tiler had been as proud of his job as your man.The very modern sensor lighted mirror was a great final touch. The staff were very professional and friendly and there was ample parking at this lovely hotel. Well done and thank you.
