I've been staying in the anner for the past 7 weeks on business. The hotel is very nice, beautiful rooms and cosy bar serving very good food at reasonable prices but the best thing about the Anner has to be the staff! They're all so lovely and the welcome I get every morning from Tanya at breakfast brightens up my day. I will miss them all when I finish my business in Thurles but I will hope to return again once covid-19 blows over!
As regulars we are assured of a warm welcome, the staff are very friendly and attentive, the food is excellent. The rooms are very nice and spacious. The beds are very comfortable. Felt very Covid secure, plenty of sanitisers available.
Booked into the Anner for one night to allow me complete a few jobs in Thurles. This was not my first stay here and I was curious to see what this experience was going to be like. Positives: Booking, Check-in, Price, Value for money, Covid experience, Cleanliness, Quietness of room, Shower and friendliness and efficiency of Staff were all good. It was evident that some refurb had taken place - hallway was bright and fresh enroute to room #238 Negatives: (a) The tv did not work in my room. No stations of any sort. I rang reception after a quick go at fixing it myself and the gentleman offered to move me to another room - I desisted and replied that I would give the TV another 10 mins and if I had no luck I would come back to him. After 40 mins of scanning and changing settings I finally found the problem - the signal cable at the rear was plugged into the wrong port! Not the best start to my stay after a long and grueling day. (b) I headed to the lounge for a meal and was initially offered a small table which I rejected as it was too dark. The young lady moved me to the other end of the lounge which was a little bit brighter. Last time I was delighted with the food overall. This time I felt that the desert let the overall down a fraction along with the breakfast experience which although functional was a little basic. (c) The room itself was adequate but I did notice a few minor issues including the cracked tile on the bathroom floor, the need for some cleaning/grouting around some of the bath and the placement of the toilet roll holder which left it difficult to easily open and close the toilet lid and seat without fouling! In summary, my overall experience was OK and yes, I would stay here again. I didn't do the "Four in a bed" type inspection but sometimes its the small things that come out important. Everything can be fixed or improved upon to up the experience and overall rating. See you again in 2021!…
Very enjoyable stay. Nice room, friendly staff and a delicious breakfast. Excellent room service. I didn't get to the leisure centre but I will stay again and I will go the next time. I would highly recommend a stay in The Anner.
