We had a lovely large room at the top of the hotel - warning that there is no lift, so if mobility is an issue, be aware. The hotel is very clean and the bedding is crisp and fresh. I found the mattress a bit firm but otherwise the room and bathroom facilities are excellent. The hotel is located right on the square, so an easy walk to everything, including the church. Staff is very good - one member speaks English reasonably well, and they are most accommodating. Breakfast is traditional - bread, meats, cheeses, egg, fruit, etc. and nicely presented. The restaurant was not open while we were there, and had to do a bit of looking to find somewhere to eat - we eventually found Goldne Sonne, just a short walk away, which was also excellent. Definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again on our next visit.…
This is basically a b&b and not a hotel. It has no restaurant facilities but did serve bottled beer. The lady who greeted us the first night was nice but the room on the 2nd floor was too far almost for my dad. The house is charming. The room was large and confortable. The curtains were a disaster. Hanging down offering no protection from the incoming sun. Breakfast was very poor. At €5 you would expect a bit more then a few slices of this and that. There is not much of a choice in Schneeburg but one night here was enough.
The Silberstrasse connects a number of beautiful (and formerly very rich) old mining towns between Zwickau and Freiberg in the Erzgebirge. In spite of a lot of touristic sites in this area, the choice of attractive hotels remains rather limited. The Hotel Büttner in Schneeberg is a remarkable exception. Situated in the center of the town at the huge market place it occupies a modestly sized house from the time when the town was rebuild in baroque stile after a devastating fire in 1719. Close by, one finds the townhall and the townhall restaurant (Ratskeller), the latter providing excellent food (important since the hotel restaurant is not always open). The rooms are nice and clean though not very spacy, the service friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast offered rather limited choices but was ok. Free parking is avalable in a yard behind the house. To my surprise the hotel was almost completely booked out even though I did not travel in the main tourist season, therefore advance booking might be helpful. To find a suitable alternative in the neighbourhood would be a tough exercise.…
We stayed a night at this friendly hotel right in the heart of town on the market square. Nice room, modern bathroom and excellent breakfast. An easy walk to museums, shops and restaurants. Very much recommended.
As I am an American Soldier returning home from the war, I decided to take some (R and R) rest and relaxation. I stayed here for a full week, it was great. The staff was really helpfull and very professional. They always were quick to help out. The location of the hotel is in middle of the town square. My hotel room was on the second floor and over looked everything. Having this view and being in the middle of the square, made it seem as if I was in a 1940s black and white movie. It really was awesome. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone who is coming in to Schneeberg. Schneeberg is a quite place and seems like everyone was really nice. There is many resturants and things to do.
