We didn't actually stay at the property due to the floods, but the owner (Ravi) took us on a 2-day tour around Hampi. Ravi was a great tour guide - friendly, helpful and knowledgable - we had a great time!
This is good place to unwind, but the owner is a mixed bag , We visited with friends as we like the calm nature of Hampi, they used to serve good food but the chef's changed and now it's the owners themselves cooking I guess! Since we don't have many options in stay the hippo island, we chose here based on the reputation, a short tempered owner can't be in hospitality no matter what he does as we have been to many places but never saw an owner so focused on watching TV to deny you a service, I would have rated this place more than 3 star if the owner was polite in dealing with his customers, next time I will not stay here as he lost a customer with the wrong attitude shown!
Stayed here for a few nights during our stay in Hampi and would definitely recommend. Private huts, basic but everything you need, with a private bathroom, good wifi. Staff were always accessible if needed. Ate at the restaurant only a couple of times but food we had was good, especially the breakfasts. Would recommend staying here if you are in Hampi, beautiful surroundings, tiny bit further out than the main area of restaurants and guesthouses you see when you get off the boat at the river but nicer to be in a bit more quiet and isolated spot!
One the interiors of the island, found this place too isolated. The food was very average too and nothing great about the vibe either. We heard of great reviews and hence decided to walk the path to reach here. However it was not at all worth it !
I don't know what to say about this cafe. They Took my Drivers License during check in and never gave back, my bad that I also forgot the same. Now since two weeks Raghu is keeping me worried. This is really a pain for me as I am a Biker, and I travel a lot. This is a hippie place, do not expect much cleanliness, I got a hut for 200 with a 'not so clean' common washroom. Food was cheap and okay. Loads of mosquitoes but that maybe because of the paddy field right beside of it there. I was a solo biker and did not feel unsafe. So, the conclusion is if you are looking for a cheap place and don't have much issue with a bit unclean, then this is the place. And, do not forget your stuffs here, these people are laid back and unsupportive once you are done staying there. I genuinely forgot to pay for a beer 'cos the guy who was serving was not there and they failed to provide the account, this they came to collect later. And when it's time for my ID PROOF/DRIVERS LICENCE for them to return me back, they just backed out. Bad experience for me, such a disgrace. I got this place's recommendation from a friend of mine, but definitely will not do the same to anyone.…
