I picked this place initially because of it's location (proximity to several important temple complexes) and for the food. I ended up staying for a week. Genuine people who were able to advise me on the most important sites and the best, most cost effective and safe ways to view them. The food is prepared fresh on request and is hygienically cooked and delicious (cashew nut curry!) Air con is reliable and I loved the atmosphere within the settlement/community. Thoroughly recommend.
Ganesh is a simple family guesthouse in the maze of alleys off the bazaar. There's 4 simple rooms with attached bathroom. The rooms are well maintained, spotlessly clean and situated in a family house. There's a rooftop restaurant where all the dishes are freshly prepared. Whatever you choose, from the fruit salad at breakfast to the thali or the cashew nut curry, you won't be disappointed. There's plenty of free travel advice available and a daily English newspaper if you like to have a read with breakfast. WiFi in Hampi is awful but I did find Ganesh's better than most at times. There's a laundry service too Highly recommended as a place to stay and eat.
Although I didn't stay at the guest house, I ate there. Best meal I had in Hampi without a doubt. I went for lunch and then went back for dinner. The aloo Gobi masala was fantastic (lunch) as was the cashew nut curry (dinner) The food does take a little while to come out as everything is cooked fresh - where else do you see that in India!! - but it's definitely worth the wait. The staff there are very friendly, drinks are ice cold and wifi is good...what else do you need! Go and see for yourselves!
This place is located in the Hampi Bazaar area, in a lane in front of Mango Tree restaurant. There are total 4 rooms, 3 are inside his house along with the owner's room. These rooms are slightly smaller with 2 beds. 1 room with attached bath has separate entrance facing the lane. The room is big, about 16ft by 12ft, the ceiling is high, so it gives a very spacious feel. This has 3 beds, 2 chairs, CRT TV (didn't use), AC and geyser (didn't work but you may not need in Hampi). The owner is very nice person. The room is large, clean and well kept. They charged 1500 per night with A/C, without A/C it was 1200.
Went here just for food (unfortunately can't find just restaurant to write review). This was some of the best food we had in Hampi. Was out of season (July), so we're the only people in the restaurant. Food was very fresh - went to the market to buy more ingredients while we waited. Different members of the family cooked different aspects of the meal. Tasty samosas, nanns and tomato curry. A must visit!
