I spent 3 nights at Hostal Aikanij in March 2016. Gabi ans Julio, the owners of the hostel, are amazing hosts. The hostel and its rooms are very comfortable. There is a large dinning/living room where people meet and talk. The food cooked by Gabi is delicious, especially the local crab and fish. Julio provides transportation from and to the...

I personally went there before my Dientes and Lago Windhond trek and reserved a room for after the trek. After 8 days in the wilderness I came back, tired and wet, and they didn't have a room for me, not the one I reserved nor any other ... They did find me another, although more expensive place, and looking at...

I loved it here. Gabi and Julio are great hosts and we chatted as well as possible with my basic Spanish and Gaby's basic (but much better) English. They made me feel at home and it's more of a homestay than a hostel. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. There's coffee and cakes available at all times and...

Julio and Gabi will make you feel at home in this very friendly B&B where you can also order dinner. Gabi is and excellent cook. She understands English but prefer speaking Spanish. Julio will pick you up at the airport or at the boat landing. Their place is convenient and comfy enough and they are hugelu knowledgeable about their island.

They were so kind, we felt like we were staying with family. They went out of their way to help us and make us feel welcome. Mealtime was lovely, complete with warm bread. Gaby and Julio speak very little english, so I was forced to trot out my bad spanish. They helped us make alternative arrangements when our ferry reservations...

I'd love to take Gaby home to cook for me. Food and everything else was great. There were about 8 other people staying there, all working for the government in PW. To compare this to a Hilton in Dubai would be meaningless. Two different places. For a small town, Gaby and Julio can't be beat. Their English is limited, but...

This is an awesome place to stay. The double bed and private bathroom was quite a luxury after a few nights in dorm rooms prior to arriving here, and actually we didn't pay much more for our room here which included a great breakfast, tv in our room and help with whatever we needed. Julio and Gaby suffered my dodgy...

We had such a great time at Julio's and Gaby's place! Julio transported us everywhere: airport, ferry, horseback riding.Gaby is an excellent cook! The meals she prepared to us were succulent, not to mention the great breakfast every morning. The place is cozy and warm, and really simple. We can't wait to come back Thanks again! Thomas & Laetitia

We stayed at Akainij last year, and it was a wonderful experience. We arrived late at night after taking the Yaghan ship from Punta Arenas. Julio picked us up at the dock, even though it was late at night, and we gratefully collapsed into the very comfortable beds. We set out the next day to hike the Dientes circuit but...

Lovely hosts, sweet breakfast, and the living room is a great place to engage in conversations with people from all over the world, right on front of the fireplace. The not so good: they don't speak much English, so you better be prepared.

“If cold time of year, ask for room near heater. Their blankets were plenty and warm.”

“The double bed with the window to the backyard is quieter, although, the place is not noisy at all, but you will definitely have your privacy. We slept with our door open so the warmness of the wood stove would come in, it was special.”
