Let me start my saying I am a member of the Occidental vacation club. My husband and I have been going to this hotel for over 20 years. Staying several weeks twice a year. In the last few years the service provided in the Royal Level has declined considerably. No longer premium amenities in the room such as nice shampoo and conditioner. No longer 4 bottles of alcohol in your room. Just a half size bottle of rum. No can beer or bottled water available at the RC bar. Constantly missing choice of alcohol at the bar. I only drink Bailey's and it was missing half of my stay. No Grand Marnier to be found except for one day.On another occasion there was no milk for coffee at 11am... seriously? Ironically this only seems to be an issue at this hotel. We were in Mexico in First Club (lower level) and all these things were available. No wifi was available at the RC beach bar or restaurant or in building 20. However, regular guests have wifi available to them?? Hot water was also an issue or lack thereof. I feel there is a lack of good will on managements part. They are not providing the service that guests staying in the Royal Levels expect and are used to. I need to express that it is not the staff. All the staff in the RC restaurant, bar and office etc were fantastic and provided wonderful service. Very disappointed that we paid a premium price but didn't receive premium services. The price per night remains the same but services given to guests are cut more and more each time we return. Management doesn't seem to care about customer satisfaction. Most hotel strive to improve. This one seems more interested in cutting operating cost at the expense of customer satisfaction. We have been to this hotel over 50 times and don't know if we will return.

Let me start by saying thank you Occidental punta cana team for making our family vacations become memorable. Their staff, their management is the one who makes this company become successful. I was in the hospitality industry for many years and I had lots of experience in this business. It's not easy to please everyone. But oh my goodness. People here work so hard to make sure guests are happy and get what they need. For the price that I paid, I can't complain. Food and drinks are included. The pool are huge and clean. The lobby is so wide open and gorgeous. Please make sure you tip your servers. Due to Covid, some facilities are closed but I understand. We just enjoyed our relaxation and family company. Outstanding service.

When to Punta Cana many times, Hard Rock, Barcelo resorts, and even this Occidental Punta Cana once in the past. The resort now in 2022 is old and run down. Expect a 1 or 2 star resort and service even if you are in the higher 1st club category. Only 1 or 2 specialty restaurants are open each day. Even though they tell you there are 5 restaurants and 2 buffets. Really there is only 1 buffet and 1 specialty restaurant available each day.

Spend two weeks at the hotel. It was great in general. Comfortable fun and relaxing. Pools are very clean. At this Time more algues in the sea though… Animation number 1. Food was good in the restaurant à la carte. Will go back for sure!

So where do I begin, originally my stay was book for 2 adults and two teenagers unfortunately my sister and niece could not make it so it was only me and my daughter, I wrote the resorts days ahead asking if any accommodations could be made since it was only going to be two of us instead of 4 at that point, my emails were left with no response. The day we checked in I asked the hotel again, if any accommodations could be made, which was no. I was moved to a different room, during the storm my room was flooded I called several times asking for some sort of assistance which I was left with none after 4 hours of calling and each staff being very nasty my room was finally changed after water was all the way to the front door. I was told by the last person I spoke to “so what, what do you expect us to do” like if it was okay for me and my daughter to be left in that condition with water reaching to my ankle. My first call was at the beginning of the storm when it wasn’t as bad. The manager cover up things that happen, my daughter was sexually haggle by a local group who was staying there as well she clearly had on a kids band. Please stay away from the weekends the locals are very aggressive in a sexual manner even to teenager girls. They don’t care about the visitors when money is already collected. I am unable to upload all the videos I took but I will gladly share with anyone who wants to see the truth!!!

Recently returned from a great vacation with friends. The server Lucieni “Lucy” Abad was outstanding! She provided exceptional customer service daily. No matter the time of day (breakfast, lunch or dinner) she always greeted us with a warm smile and great service. If the resort had 50 Lucy’s it could easily be a top 5 resort! Service is everything!!!

My wife and I own at the First Club level and have enjoyed our stay for over 8 years. Our adult children have used it with their friends, our friends have used it with their families and they love it. We've made great friendships with the locals and have gone outside the resort with them with no issues. We've been asked to upgrade to Royal but we love First Club, rooms the staff, and the private beach first club. The bartender Wilton Jimenez is an amazing person. Osvaldo at the First Club bar, Wilfredo with the golf carts transportation, and Ari the concierge were all amazing. Can't wait to return on 2023.

The hotel staff was great and very welcoming. The room was clean and we got clean towels everyday. The staff offered us the coconuts everyday. The gift store was overpriced, for example hat cost 25$ while outside of resort it cost $10. The buffet food was good, but restaurant food was very good, we liked ribeye steak in Steak house and seviche with seafood place in Las Mariscos, steak and salad bar at Italian restaurant. The pools were big and enough chairs for everyone. The buffet had a lot of fruits. Great stay.

My husband and I visited this resort during COVID shut down and we had a good time. We decided to take our adult children for their bday back to this resort. We rented suites and upgraded to royal status. For the amount of money, we paid we expected better. The room furniture was nasty, The sofas had stains and were very used. The food lacked flavor. The shuttles took too long to get picked up and sometimes never came to get us. The place was very overcrowded in July and they tried to charge us an additional $200 that we fought and didnt have to pay. I have pictures and eventhough I complained I was advised they couldnt change our room because they were at capacity. For these reasons I do not recomment this resort. Save your money and book somewhere else.

We were here for 9 days. We paid extra for Royal area and i don't think we would have liked this hotel without an upgrade. Royal gets 5 out of 5 stars. The regular hotel 2 stars. Like most other reviewers have said, The staff picks and chooses who they are nice too. It's definitely helpful to speak Spanish here. It's not a bad hotel just inconsistent. It seems employees do their own thing here so you never know who you will get when it comes to front desk people, servers, bartenders, housekeeping. Some staff are amazing, some are terrible. Also, like many other reviewers have said, the hotel lets the locals come in on the weekend. it gets ghetto real fast. The so called 5 star hotel turns into a barely 1 star hotel real fast. Long lines at the food area and rude people running around getting wasted and sloppy. There are also people smoking everywhere here, and they do not care to recycle. If you book here, I would say it's well worth it to pay extra for Royal Level. You get a private restaurant, beach and pool area, well worth it.
